Greetings from Colas
« on: June 24, 2016, 12:27:45 AM »
I hit the high tide spot early and sure enough the new local guy was already on it.  You might recognize him.  He's a short sup specialist.  I'm on my smallest board,
8-4 120l and he's on his longest, an 8-4 gun.

Very cool SJ.  Colas really helped shape the Zone into the open forum that exists today.  It's too bad that he had to sacrifice his presence to make his point.  But, I believe his exit really made a difference.  Perhaps it's time for a Colas come-back?

What was his reason for leaving the zone? Everything seemed fine in his last ten posts. Why did he stop?

Believe the hype.

"Stand Up Paddlers who are associated with brands that are not site sponsors are allowed to post here but are not considered normal users.  Their postings need to be limited to general info and cannot contain brand specific photos, videos, links, product info, etc.  In other words, they should not be referring to their related brands at all."

I can understand the rule - one of the aims of this website is no doubt to make money for those who run it.

But the more frequent problem is people who are related to site sponsors' brands posting here without making reference to their link. In some countries at least, an advertisement has to be clearly indicated as such in order to be legal.

Thing is there are folk who are connected to brands who never say so....until rumbled.

Colas is a helpful guy....has good advice too.

Colas had some great tips. They are all still there for anyone who feels like going back through his posts.

This one really helped me advance forward as I got into shorter boards.

Colas really made it clear how to paddle a short SUP. Grateful.

I'm permanently banned from the Boglehead site. It was an accident guys, honest. I wanted to find some people to critique the retirement book I was writing (still am) so I posted a link to it.  Too close to spam for their taste, especially since some of the most knowledgeable members had created a "bogleheads guide to retirement" book, which is excellent. Bam, gone for life. Oh well. I still go there frequently, I just can't post.

Colas is a cool dude and a hell of a surfer.

I also spend a lot of time on Endless Sphere, an e-vehicle site. From the outside looking in it seems you have to be super careful there. So many people trying to sell stuff, and it seems to me the admins occassionally get irritated and do a housecleaning that seems to come out of the blue. The place gets more and more commercial and suddenly blam.

Interesting Zone history here. I never really think bout the economics of this website. Quite a different perspective. Cool video and nice editing.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"
