Clinging Jellyfish spotted in Shrewsbury River (June 2016)

To clarify, even though the reporter makes it sound like a ship brought the jellyfish here over the last few months, the first reports of them are from 1894 when they were found in Massachusetts water.

i just moved right by the river and this is really troubling- as I have small kids that wade in the water 2-3x per week after school, and is where my wife and I flatwater paddle.

these things are nasty.  a few articles about the recent stings- one guy was in the hospital for 3 days on morphine.  Asbury Park press just reported, as expected- they were now found in the navesink too. 


They are here to stay and it's a real bummer....

I was surprised that they weren't spotted in the Navesink first considering it's been jellyfish central for the last two years. But the Navesink has even bigger problems:
