I got nothing to offer.  Just got my board Friday.  That was a good video.

Fun stuff. I can't imagine surfing with that much rig on the front of my board. I feel like a go pro throws me off.

also, did the appleseed cast put out a new album while I wasn't paying attention?

Jorge - Thanks!  Spreading stoke as best I can.  ;D

Bob - thanks for the update, I'll have to give a tail handle a try.

Kirk(?) thanks and good eye on the surfer ID.

Carl - I have seen guys with shortboards start from the point and ride down to the pier and hitchhike back up.  Sure seems like a fun way to go with the flow and not fight the current.  :)

sxrracer - That's for watching and the feedback.
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

Thanks!  I sure had fun  :D    First I am hearing of the appleseed cast.

I feel the weight of a gopro on short prone boards, it definitely throws my surfing off.  I have found that on my 140L and 170L boards with the gopro session I don't notice the weight of the pole/cam as long as the pole weight is under 20 ounces.  I imagine if I was riding really small SUPs I would feel the swing weight.

I am curious how many liters and what dimensions your boards are?

I'm sure its mostly psychological on my part. 120-140L, 15-23 lbs.

The Appleseed Cast does quite a few instrumental tracks similar to what you used for the video. You might like them.

Kevin is a bit stockier than Wingnut.  Thanks for the identification.

The easiest way to tell them apart besides looking at them, is that Kevin Miske is a goofy foot and Wingnut surfs natural foot.

They can both prone paddle back to the take off spot faster that we can with a paddle. They're both the kind of surfers that it's much better for them to be your friend than not. You'll get a lot more waves that way.

Kevin seems to have the wave conveyor belt down pat.

After seeing him on the You Tube video, I think he was the one I saw  once last year coming in at Privates, doing the stepping stuff and coming all the way into shore from wave to wave to the last sharp shore break at Privates to jump off his board onto the sand. It was continuous, he never left the board.

Me and some others on the beach were kind of a peanut gallery mesmerized at watching the whole thing.

Clay--If you hadn't been on a Simsup I wouldn't make the comment about making sections. Plus you've got the speed and you're up on the face.  I've found with my L41 I make stuff I'd just never consider possible. In fact it's a little disconcerting going from the L41 to my big Foote, because while it's pretty fast, it's nothing like the L41, and I find myself getting up on the face to try for hopeless stuff and getting catapulted.

I've watched your stupid video thirty or forty times now, It's killing my productivity and making me jones for surf when I should be working--like now when I ought to be connecting the clutch on my car and bleeding it. Every time someone makes a comment about it and it pops up I watch the video, and then watch it again. That camera angle is spectacular. Having made dozens of videos that I can't stand to watch I'd say your efforts to make a functional camera mount has paid off in spades.

I think Bob is right about the tail handle, I suspect you'd love it, especially with the gear on the nose.

Uplifting edit! I could feel your elation when you whooped out! I love that feeling! Waves are so cool and surfing is the most unique feeling in the world! Dig that underwater seg...very cool. Nice hand held footage too. Looked so perfect that day.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Thanks Bill, appreciate the comment, felt good to hear.  I think I understand your board comparison completely, I feel more at home on bigger boards except in waves like these where the downline speed is where it's at.  I demoed both Foote 10x34 and 10x32, enjoyed surfing the 10x32 and felt comfortable on it.

Thanks Cook!  Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Just saw this!  Soooo good.  Man, I'd give my left nut for waves like that.  Hell, I'd give both.  Loved it.

Sweeet waves.... you had it wired for sure clay!

your pole cam really does give a great perspective.... it even makes falling off look pretty cool.

I'd love to see a beach cam video of you surfing with your rig... it would nice to see what it looks like on the wave.

and yeah.... nothing nice than watching a great longboarder who dances so perfectly with a wave.... thanks for those clips!

Thanks Rick!

I'd love to have someone video me as well, any volunteers are welcome  ;D  And if anyone sends me a Soloshot and I will try it out!
Robert (offshore) has a shot or 2 of me surfing with an older design:

When I line up some volunteers to surf with the pole cam I will film from the beach and hopefully get some footage that lets us see what it looks like.
