I never see a wedge video without wondering how I survived years of bodysurfing there. The main answer is that when it looked like that I spectated. But I still got stunned many timed, had the buzz feeling from head to mid-back of compressed verebra and spinal damage, anf the inevitable sand enema. Lot of fun, but so brutal when it has any size at all, especially if the swell ladders up quickly while you're out dinking around. Just getting out with your suit on keeping your fins can be an accomplishment.

Strange to see surfboards. When I was going there after work most nights, from 1973 to about 1979 I don't remember seeing any. Spongers were barely tolerated, though the red plastic luch trays that came from some fast food place were OK. Used to be some hand planes too, but mostly it was body surfing with one or two fins.
