As well as the gene pool.  ;)
It takes a quiver to do that.

What's so difficult about understanding what the thread is about?  The topic says it all.  No trickery here.  If it doesn't appeal to you don't open it.  Simple.  And if offends you so much that you resent it on a forum you frequent, then don't.  No arm twisting here.

Life is full is mixed bags and if you limit yourself to only that which appeals to your sensitivities in their entirety, then good luck.  It just doesn't work out that way.  We do downwind runs and sometimes they are just plan hideous in nature.  I've come in to shore with my body in complete rebellion.  It's been so bad, I've had to have PBill drive me home.  I've seen his knee give out totally.  But you take the rough stuff with the good... and great.

I have friends that are normally nice people but when they speak of politics or religion they become some other kind of creature feature.  But it's not going to stop my relationship with them.  I know when it really counts they are solid.  So you ignore all their idiosyncrasies

Are the people that want to kill the thread afraid their children might see it?

I'm all for the tasteful images of beautiful sexy women. I don't think that has ever been a problem.

It's the ones in bad taste and the disgraceful comments that follow that bother me. I don't care whether women approve or disapprove. What bothers me is how it portrays men.

Maybe a little double standard here on everyone's part. I've had some of my posts removed. I've probably made a comment or two that some might perceive offensive or in poor taste. And I'm not talking about the HC thread either. They probably were in poor taste from a given perspective. You try to not let the weeds grow, but sometimes the garden is just to big. In hindsight some of the deletions I was thankful for, some I licked my wounds.
Growing up and living at the beach, I see women in the latest in bathing fashion almost daily and have for the better part of my life. To me it's perceived as normal and doesn't even register as 'scantly dressed'. It's what women wear being active in ocean water sports. To someone who only visits the beach every now and then they might feel uncomfortable with what they are seeing front and center. I've made comments on the HC thread that were in poor taste, but they were never removed. That being said, it's not Admins job to correct anything we post. I type stuff I'm not proud of, but in the moment it's what I typed. I own it.
On a photography forum I visit, there are photographers who shoot all kinds of subjects. I share my indoor sports photography and talk lenses. If I decide to look into the darker side of people through photography, it's there. I haven't seen anybody making a stand to have the threads that contain nudity , even in a dark way, removed. From my perspective, some of it is shocking. I don't go to seedy bars, strip joints, or private adult clubs. Never have or will. To the contributor's of the darker content it's their daily world and way of life. In fact the site sponsors are the biggest names in the photography business.
The HC thread probably would discourage, disgust, or otherwise make most women feel uncomfortable. We are not encouraging women to join by exercising our 1st amendment right. If my wife heard what is said by some of the guys on my projects, she would want me to fire them. I usually ask them to please censor their language and content when my clients are around. It's the way the average male converses when among his male peers. This forum at times turns into a macho groupo. "Hey, check out this chick. She's frick'n hot." then I might post, "I agree, she is hot, and keeps in great shape." What I could have said is, 'If she didn't smoke so much or purge everything she eats, she might almost look in shape. She needs some serious help!" So which one would be honest, and which one is less hurtful?
Keep it or kill it either way it won't change my life. If Admin wants more women to become members, he could censor it and make it more women friendly. Even if the votes are in favor of killing the HC thread, it's still Admin's decision. Tough being a nice god ;)

I'm just amazed that in 2016 there are still guys who refer to women at "chicks".

Doesn't require that admin censor it. Anyone can report something as inappropirate, or a little more directly, and a little less along the lines of "someone should do something" They could either comment or pm the person.  I never understand the notion of closing the pool because some nitwit peed in it.

That does little good with the feature of not being able to go back, and edit/remove your posts once the "modify" button has timed out.

Weirdest thing I've ever seen on a forum, and I've played on many....this is the only one I know of with a given/limited amount of time in which one is able to modify/delete their threads, posts, or replies before they're locked from doing so for good.

I certainly don't understand the reason why someone wouldn't be able to go back, and change what they've written whenever they have a change of heart, or realize PUI probably wasn't the best idea once their head stops hurting...but just chalked it up to another one of the oddities of some of the happenings, and/or goings on at this place.  Oh well...."when in Rome".  :o :-X :D

An interesting article (this was widely covered by the surf press a few years ago): http://www.eidonsurf.com/2014/04/03/girls-letter-to-surf-mag-more-women-surfers-please/

Writing does raise awareness of issues and opinions.  There is certainly no guarantee that putting forth an argument will move your audience to your side.  It may ingrain readers in their established positions.  That, however, is the process, and it is the beauty of the forum environment.  There are many great topics that orbit this issue.  Only content trumps content.  Make your case.  Start a thread.  Persuade.

A couple days........less than 100 votes. That's what's wrong with this world......people just don't get out and vote anymore.
Well this isn't exactly a subject that involves whirled peas, far from it.
And, my guess is that the number of "don't care" votes is vastly under-represented, probably by hundreds which would put it way out front.
So why is that number so low?  Because they just don't care enough to vote on it, even though it's been viewed over 4000 times.
It takes a quiver to do that.

Although there may be some "don't cares", I think there are probably two very large groups of people not being represented here:

1. Those who see that arguing for change to the porn thread is totally pointless, because the people who run the site care more about hits on the website than they do about attracting female forum contributors.

2. Those who are too intimidated to put their view across, because they know it will result in a welter of attack and ridicule.

But of course. Intimidation and the moral majority.

I voted, but count me in under #1.

I'm a #1 too.  I like beautiful ladies as much as the next guy, but it does seem somehow degrading to women and would tend to make the Zone a "males only" kind of club.  Some things are more important than hits alone. IMO.
