I am not necessarily a fan of the HC thread.  I am however a fan of DATA.

I took 5 minutes to sort the Views and Replies on the General thread (top 20).  The writing is already on the wall with regards to interest viewership of the thread (morals aside).  No other thread even gets within a 100,000 views of the HC thread.  If attracting SUP related eyeballs was the objective then HC hit the jackpot.

That's a tough one. I'll have to think about it.

It's a pretty stupid thread but I don't know if we need to ban it. On the other hand, if I say keep it, that might mean I'm in favor of it. I wish people would just stop contributing to it and let it disappear. After reading all the recent comments on the topic, I've decided to just ignore that thread from now on.

I'll say it. After seeing people banned from here or simply leave because of the moderation of posts I'm 100% ok with removing the post.

Let's not be naive, it happens all the time. if I posted hardcore porn here it would be removed. So where do you draw the line? What if I'm not offended by porn, should I be able to post it? No, because a community standard is applied. That standard seems to be male focused here. But let's not fool ourselves like we're protecting the first amendment on this forum.

Kill it and go look at "hot chicks" somewhere else. If you're coming here to see sexy women pics you're completely lost.

I'll go with that.

At the very least, it doesn't belong in the General Discussion category because it has nothing to do with the actual sport of stand up.

The writing is already on the wall with regards to interest viewership of the thread (morals aside).  No other thread even gets within a 100,000 views of the HC thread.  If attracting SUP related eyeballs was the objective then HC hit the jackpot.

The thread is over five years old. That's the only reason it has gotten so many views.

Actually it's only four years old.  But it hasn't gotten so many views because it's old, so much as it's old (among active threads) because it continues to get views.

Here's a perspective. Google "retro surfing" images or something similar and you'll find bikini clad sisters, both posing and surfing, as far back as cameras were brought to beaches. It's kind of an integral part of the culture. So it's a little disingenuous to say it doesn't belong on this site at all. I advocate for tasteful.

I don't post a lot but I'm on here every day reading and learning. There are dozen of active threads on this forum that I have never clicked into. If I see something that interests me I check it out, if not, I'm on to the next thread. This thread is still active because women are beautiful and people like to look at them. Especially on a forum that I would guess is a majority male base. I joined this forum because it had good info and a group of knowledgeable, helpful people. I don't think that would change by removing this thread. But if we can keep it even better. If you have a problem with this thread don't click into it. It's pretty simple.

Yes, tasteful.

The problem I have have with a lot of the pics is that they are often of ditzy bimbos caught in demeaning positions which is disrespectful. I'm sure the bimbos probably don't care but it makes us men look like a bunch of dirty lustful dorks.

Interesting. One of the things I get from that was the amount of replies on the Costco threads vs the views. Tells me that lots out there are seeing them at Costco and going home, heck anymore right in the store and researching. That made me curious. I did not spend much time. Almost no time, a minute? two?  but I popped into google "Girls SUP" "Girls Paddleboard" "Girls Standup paddleboard" and the same replacing Girls with women. Maybe it was womens. The thread never showed up on page 1. I also didn't look past page 1. One of those the "Breeze" thread did but only one. Like I said I didn't spend lots of time. As soon as I popped in "Hot" it showed up. I only tried that with one of the phrases.
We all know, most anytime you search out something for SUP this place shows up in the results, usually near the top. It should. It's also how most of us found this place.
Making my head hurt trying to do the math real quick but overall views vs. replies seem to be similar ratios.......with a few exceptions??

“...when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong.”
You know what that means? I'm right.  ;)

Freedom of choice only exists when EVERYONE has the freedom to choose. Keep the thread and those that enjoy it choose to click on it.
Those who don't enjoy it can poke out their pouty lips and choose to not click on it.

   FREEDOM OF CHOICE
