Like QUICKBEAM, I too came from the kayak world. I am 52. Ever since I can remember, I was riding waves from body surfing to boogie boards. I tried prone surfing briefly as a teen but did not have the knack for it. Living 3 hours from any decent break did not allow me the time to develop the skill set. Got into surf kayaking about 6 or 7 years ago but lately it hurt my shoulders. Bought my 1st SUP maybe 2 years ago. It does not hurt my shoulder. Sold my surf kayak and got my 2nd board on order. Fixin to kick this thing in high gear! Yeah  8)

he done me right with the starby--i immediately got waves with that board, and have proned little since--and ive learned much and enjoyed the community here, as well.

I went back and looked at my first post. It was searching for anyone else SUPing here in WA back in 2013, now there is anywhere from 3 to 10 SUPS out at the main surfing beach here on any given weekend.

I have really enjoyed this forum, gotten a lot of great info, and have returned basically nothing. I still haven't met anyone from this forum IRL, but I probably surfed with some during the great run of south swells in Maui last June/early July.
Make paddleboarding great again!
