Just stay on the board....
« on: May 15, 2016, 12:48:16 PM »
Conditions small and onshore don't usually inspire. Well sometimes there's more to the story.

If you watch closely, my fearless leader catches one into an offshore rock cove and comes up smiling.

Nice. I like the way you edited the sound at the end. What a great looking spot that is. I know where that is but have never been. Someday. Another Pearson Arrow/Laird representing!

I finally caught up with this one, too, Jay.

You are right, that Mavs/Half Moon Bay looks a lot more raw and threatening than Santa Cruz L41.  Cali coast gets much more rough and windy the further north you go.

I have never been to Mavs, but I can say my Surftech paddle has, at any rate!

Thanks for the vids.

I just saw this, after trolling your other Vimeos, very cool.

That was a raw day, and I am glad that you caught me going down in front of the rocks @ 3:40.   I remembered thinking 'It's not too big and there will only be one wave.'  5 waves later it had earned my full attention.  To date I have avoided getting bashed but may just be a matter of time.

For the rest: I had some work distractions and showed up 20 minutes late.  Jay had watched from the cliff and thought it "looked too small" and wasn't going to suit up.  It was a roughed up day and without the perspective of any surfers in the lineup it might have looked small.  So I said "No way Jay its breaking in the middle of the channel.  Those sets have to be pushing 7 or 8 feet.  Get dressed we're going out . . .  especially considering you flew from France to California, you're getting wet"  8)
