Aloha rbgar,
Our staff normally fits all of the fins in the boxes before we ship a board...we are shipping heaps of boards right now...so, it possibly got overlooked...
I'll ask them when they get in...could be that it's not totally tightened...just feels that way...might be hitting a spot on the nut...sometimes, clients switch screws and nuts with the bigger center fin which could be a little different...can you try a bigger square nut from another fin with same OD screw?
Barring that, you can make a small shim from a plastic bottle...or, aluminum can if it is close...

Most all of the time, if there is a fin fitment issue, we have to sand the fins a little to get them to fit in the boxes...as they are very close tolerance...
Mahalos...{:~)

@WarDog

I'm going to store my Hammer horizontally. Should I store in with pad side down or pad side up?

I'm only asking because when I got my Hobie (and I since I store it horizontally), Hobie recommended it be stored with pad side down.

  Welcome to the Hammer club Night Wing. I have two and I love 'em.

  I'm pretty sure you want to surf it pad side up for as long as you can.

I think you must have mis-understood my inquiry.  ;)

I know I'm going to flat water paddle and surf my new Hammer pad side up, but my inquiry is for "storing" my Hammer in my garage. Hobie recommends storing my ATR-2 (when stored in my garage horizontally), pad side "down". I'm just wondering if my Hammer, when stored horizontally, should be stored pad size up or down and right now, I'm guessing pad side down.

Aloha Night Wing,
Yes, we normally store the boards resting on the pad...also, how we rack them on vehicles...
BTW, your new Hammer is sealed with carbon top and bottom...

@WarDog

Thank you for posting those two pictures of my Hammer. I appreciate it. Also, thank whoever (if more than one also) is building my Hammer. She looks great.  :) I'm hoping she's half way built because it has been a long 2 weeks and 4 days since the blank arrived at your shop on June 8th. Not that I'm counting.  ;)

BTW, thanks for telling me to store it pad side down. I've already got a spot for her in my garage.

@WarDog

My Hammer looks real shiny. Glad to see my sup is coming down the home stretch. I'm just guessing, but it looks like all that needs to be done is for the fins to fit in the fin boxes, seafoam green paint, one black pinstripe, your logos on the sup and there is a possibility I could be doing some flat water supping on my subdivision's lake in the third or fourth week of July. On your website where you state it normally takes 5-8 weeks for completion of custom sups, since the blank was delivered to your shop on June 8th, I tentatively planned on it being finished by August 8th. I'm glad to see it looks like it will be sooner.  :)

I really appreciate the photos of my Hammer build you post in this thread. When I see this topic highlighted with a new post and see your username, I get excited with anticipation of a new comment or better yet, a photo or two (or more  ;)). As they say, "Good things come to those who wait".  8)

Aloha Night Wing,
I love the look of naked carbon, too...looks so sexy...but, would get a tad bit too hot in that Texas sun...;-)

I am guesstimating another 5-6 days of work...along with the other boards we have being built...economy of scale...delivery of this domestic production batch puts us out around next Friday...pad install and packing that next weekend...most likely, shipping to Houston on that following Monday or Tuesday...3 day delivery time...probably puts you on the water at your local by the 15th-16th...

@WarDog

I forgot to mention those two vent holes and the pad in my previous post. July 4th's Monday temperature is supposed to be around 99 degrees where I live and combined with the oppressive humidity, we'll have a heat index between 108-110 degrees.

Our beach water temperature on the Bolivar Peninsula is 88 degrees right now. With July just starting and our brutal August air temperatures still to come, we should hit a beach water temperature of 90 degrees (or more) before August arrives.

Thanks for giving me an ETA (estimated time of arrival). BTW, that seafoam green color sure looks "cool".  8)

You stay safe this holiday weekend and if you're on the water with your sup, catch a wave for me.  ;)

@WarDog

I haven't seen a foil sup on your site. It looks good and I like the brushed seafoam green color. I'm a sucker for seafoam green. Since you made this foil Hammer for yourself as an experimentation, I guess you're thinking about adding another customization to your Hammer line of SUPs in the future.

If you make a video of it in action, I hope you post it in your SUP Marketplace on this site. That is a "hint".  ;)
