Nice one.

Did you get a new camera?

This one felt like I was in the video, instead of just watching it.  Awesome!

DJ, When are you getting the new Naish 'Foiled' DW board?  ;)
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

I wonder if a 12' would be more comfortable in those conditions than a 14?  Looks super short period

I doubt it. Maybe if you are a nanoperson. I DW in conditions like those often, and have both 14ft and 12-6 (and 12) boards. Once you are on a bump the 12s are fine, but getting onto them in the first place is a lot easier on a 14.

14 is actually quite a good length for average sized people in most DW conditions around the world (ie. excluding Hawaii) I think. I suspect that the optimum length would really be around 15ft if you aren't going to be needing a rudder, since longer than that starts to make "surfing" the bumps (rather than "piloting" the board) a bit difficult for an average weight and skill person. But we are stuck with 14, largely, and it's not such a bad compromise for most.

No.. Same old GoPro2's..

Shame I fell in early in the run just as it was getting good.. My board and camera rig did a tumble leaving salt water drying on the lenses causing very hazy and foggy vid that not worth using.. All that vid was before my fall and very soon after.. Shame because the best footage was near the end when the waves were the biggest.

I'm not sure that will ever happen..

I love it.. but it won't be for everyone..  I like the surfing feeling you get doing downwinders.. I'd miss that..  Shallow water dangers will be a big problem.. It's bad enoug with a 9" fin..  Having to swim it out to deep enough water befor you can even start would mean a 100 meter swim in some places I launch from.. Same at the end in most places..  And getting the thing onto the foil would be like dragging a huge lump of seaweed behind you..

Lovely conditions, great vid. You are looking really comfortable on that Jav.

It's been a long time since we got good DW conditions here and I felt very rusty.. I was getting caught out more than normal with those sharp nose edges catching and I'm  still hoping that we see a new big-boy Maliko Jav soon because that would be perfect for me (and most other bigger and older people).. I often thought how good it would have been without my camera mount and using my 14 x26 Maliko Jav.. Even if it is pretty tippy for me..

I'm with you DJ on the "it won't be for everyone" although for our off-shore boat assisted runs we will be giving it a go once we get ourselves the kit...

And... after cutting down our paddles over the years, suddenly it looks like we'll need an extra long one for our foil dw boards...  :(
