Helicopter tape would work excellent as a patch.

It's very tough, sticks really well and doesn't leave any glue behind.

Hey Badger, that seems like a really good idea and I already have some.

I already had some too. It's now in the spare parts box that I keep in my car. It might come in handy someday.

Sure. One of the ways to install it as rail tape is the wet method, where you first spray the rail with water before sticking it on. Once you squeegee the water out, it's stuck. It takes a bit of effort to get it to come off. The great thing is that it leaves no glue behind.

I surfed the board today with helicopter tape covering the hole, after I got out, pulled the tape and felt inside the hole and it was dry as a bone!!  Good call, Badger!

+1 on Puka Patches. I love those things. Always keep a pack in my trunk. Their only downside is that they work too well and its easy to get lazy and  just leave it patched.
