SUP Writing
« on: March 26, 2016, 06:01:47 AM »
For the last months I've been writing articles for SUP Examiner. I've wanted to do SUP writing for a while, and Matt Chebatoris kindly took me on. I especially like writing articles about equipment, like the ins and outs of PFDs, leashes, and stuff like that. Here are some links:

http://supexaminer.com/2016/03/wear-that-pfd-an-examination-of-inflatable-belt-pack-pfds/

http://supexaminer.com/2016/03/leashology-leash-components-and-when-to-use-a-straight-vs-coiled/

I'm definitely doing it for the fun. There's no money involved, but I like seeing my stuff get published. My article in progress is on board bags. And I have to say, these conversations on the Zone definitely influence what I write. You guys have some really wise things to say.

Maybe someday I'll get my damn novel published too!

The stigma associated with self-publishing is ancient history. Easy to do on Amazon.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

I'm definitely thinking about that, Bill. I've got a couple of other novels in the bag that could be self-published. I just need to do the layout.

i've taken a couple of my stories and grouped them together to sell as minibooks (or something) on amazon.  got three of them that make me about $300 a year.  better n nothing and it was fun putting them together.  one of them -- about grady stiles, the lobster boy, a bad-dude carnival "oddity" who got offed by a hit kid hired by his wife while he sat in his easy chair in his underpants and smoked a Pall Mall -- was once a number two best seller in the circus category.  competition must have been fierce that week!

Post when your board bag article goes up.... I need to get one.. though I'll most likely start with a sock style I believe.

Here's my article on board bags. I swear on my mother that the squirrel incident was true.

Nice article IchaSpo. You're right, boards need bags but it could be stronger. I used my nsp boardbag  less than one year before the 2 plastic zipperheads broke.   I made bags with insulation sheets, much cheaper but it does the job.
And to make a boardbag is definitely easier than a board.

I have an Epic bag whose zipper went kaput. I got a new zipper from the distributor and then brought the huge bag to the local tailor. He actually fixed it for about ten bucks. I think he thought the idea of fixing a huge board bag was pretty funny.

If only that wasn't true! My Kona windsurfer and my wife's Amundsen SUP got seriously chewed. I had another windsurfer in a bag. The bag was peed on, pooped on, and shredded, but the board inside was fine.

If the bags are 100% hemp, predatory rodents might be more sedentary rodents.
