Style and ENDURANCE
« on: February 14, 2016, 11:17:30 PM »
Seems to me that the Sunovas I used for almost two weeks straight in some pretty decent California swells in Encinitas held really well. The 9'0" Style. That thing is SOLID. I also rode the 8'10" Speeed in some pretty perfect Sunset Cliffs and that thing felt strong like a brick house. Just like Creek and Tom, built to last! My quiver at present is full but I would def consider Sunova to replace. I don't know a whole lot about surfboard and sup construction but I do know wood is strong. For good measure I rented an 8'0" Firewire Submoon funshape prone board, or as I like to call em "Regular Board".

9'0" Style- Up and over!

Bailing on a beast!

9'0" Style on one of the best waves of my trip. 2/5/16

8'10" Speeed at The Cliffs

8'10" Speeed feelin' super stable. (I could see that guy to my left in my peripheral!)

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Hi. I am interested in the Sunova style as a longboard/nose rider for myself and a flat water paddler for my wife. It would be a replacement for my 9.5 starboard Widepoint. We are 70 and 60 kg. The 9.0 Style is not listed on the Sunova website. Was this a custom board? Any advise regarding appropriate size would be appreciated and would the Style be a reasonable board for flat water cruising around on? I am currently riding a Sunova 8'10" Skate which is a great small wave board.

Thanks

Hi FRP,
Compare: 8'10 Skate is 32" wide and 143 liters
The 9'0 Style is maybe 27" wide and under 100 liters.... not exactly sure, because, as you say, it's not a listed size.

That should be plenty of float for each of you and, with the wide nose, fairly stable.... but it's a LOT smaller than your other boards, so only you can answer if it's going to suit you.

Because both of your boards are wide and high volume, the 9' Style will be a big drop in all stability factors, but I'll bet you will adapt quickly.

I am pretty sure that there is no additional charge, if you order a standard shape 9' Style.

I think the 9-0 style is more like a hundred and twenty liters

Thanks Rick

It might be that the 9'6 Styl XL at 29" wide and 118 litres might be a a more stable platform and yet still manageable for my wife. It is intriguing however as there are other mentions of the 9.0 Style on the web with similar width and volume. I am hoping that at my age that it is not too late to learn to nose ride!

Cheers

the 9'0 style is 29 wide and 119 lts. It  is  currently  in  the  hands  of  Zooport  who  may  buy  it .  I'm  not  sure  if  it  was  a  custom  order  or  not , Tino  left  it  with  me  to  use  as  a  demo  and  sell  rather  than  take  it  back .

I really  like  the  board , it's  a good  all  arounder, surfs  well  and  rides like  a longboard.
