beach conditions
« on: February 09, 2016, 04:48:06 PM »
so here it is february and its my first time back in the water since October early November ish all i can remember is that  the beach had a lot of san the reefs were working flawlessly  and the water still warm enough to trunk it so  Why 4 months  ( easy 2 boards taking water  had tone dried out and fixed, the new board wasn't done yet)   so today  I go out  first i realize d wow  my balance has de generated   like  a 3  years loss of experience   so maybe a month  no surfing = 1 year balance loss, of course it could  be that my new board is  shorter and narrower  not much   though, but I digress
nOw  the beach is steep, there are cobbles allover  back was is horrible  until the tide  drops below 2 feet, the rip current is in a different place  ( now it is where there  used to be this mellow off shoulder peak  ( when it was good you could take Moffat the main peak and run the section  to the next peak and kick out on the sand.  but now no  more  and worst of all the bottom is all cobbles rolling around smashing your toes  as you start off.

I know there was a lot of carnage up and down the coast how did your beaches fair?

Annual thing for us. Large winter swells sweep the beaches of sand and in the spring it comes back.
This year with all the large swells, I have been finding agate beds on beaches that rarely show them.

Everything changes every year. Low tide spots become high tide spots. NE swells and winds move it all around in the winter; SW swells and winds redistribute the wealth in the spring!
Let it come to you..

Four months on the "OUTSIDE"!   :D Good ya got back in! Sounded like a struggle...stay strong. NE?
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"
