Feb 5, Encinitas
« on: February 07, 2016, 10:46:24 PM »
It was a challenge for me to say the least. I did surf the break in these shots quite a few smaller days prior though so that helped. The hi res images are by me handheld from up high on the cliffs. SOLOSHOT images are screenshots off  vid and bit too pulled back so it's tough to make out who's who...but you guys are smart!

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Wow!  Judging from what has been coming into Santa Cruz, I can imagine the power of those waves.  Lots of incentive to stay away from the closeout.

I have had my brains rinsed pretty thoroughly in the last couple of weeks.

You seem to be getting your money's worth, doing awesome!

I have gone up onto the lip and redirected back into the waves a few more times, so I know that my "triple smack" wave last week wasn't an hallucination.

Looks like the Sunova 9' style got a good test for wave size.

A couple hundred miles up the coast we have been having those nice warm windless days also.

The size dropped a lot but SUPER FUN!

Supcheat- "I can imagine the power of those waves. Lots of incentive to stay away from the closeout."
MrBig- "Awesome pics from Cardiff Reef!"
Tom- "the Sunova 9' style got a good test for wave size."
lopezwill- "we have been having those nice warm windless days also".
Creek- "Cookie.... nice talking with you today"
SD surfer- "You try the Cardiff Crack yet? Got a little size to play with"

The reef helps w/the power, right?! So cool to surf over it! All beach break in NJ! The power has def been nice...closeouts and all!

The kelp, crystal blue/green water, seals, dolphin, whales! I just wonder about the enviro here. SOOO many cars, people, roads! Cali coast needs to be taken proper care of. The parks are awesome. Good they have set them aside.

The SOLOSHOT2 has performed really well. Took my time on setup and nailed it.

The 9'0" Style def passed the test. Performed well in the size. First coupla drops water was shooting up at me! That's alotta nose to trim!

Those conditions lopez are in are exactly what I've been getting! I always knew about CA glass but I'm livin' it! These shots are from THE glassiest day so far!

Talking w/Creek was funny...he said the storm was so effing bad back east the cam wouldn't even steady at the beach. And then my brother who is like 50 contacts me and tells me he's road trippin in the middle of it from NJ to Maine!

The "Cardiff Crack" was def a good call by SDsurfer, very tasty tri-tip BBQ!...the Seaside Market teeshirt with all the surf spots too was sooo cool!

Linter- I have a pretty fair amount of raw footage. Been wanting to do a quickie edit but there's so much to do and see here it's been taking up my time! This place is AMAZING!

WhatsSUP- Thanx for the positivity! Timing is an important factor in life! Like entering the water from a sketch rock jump! The tides were pretty extreme tday. Lunar phased me! Top shot is me getting in around noon, bottom pic is after I exited the water, dried off, and went back down.

Cardiff Sweeper-  I took alot of pictures so far. The waves have been sooo amazing! I wish I did have a picture for you! Post one here please!

Todays action! Thanx Tom for shooting...and the loaner!2/10

This was Feb 11th, two days before the end of my trip. Rented an 8'0" Firewire Submoon to get some regular surfing in. Quite fortunate to have good waves and to meet a guy shooting on the beach!

I always tell my surfer friends, "Just because I SUP-surf, doesn't mean I want more people to do it."

It's really not that popular in these parts.   :)

That being said, El Niņo continues to deliver!
