Beasho..... great pic of you and the Ebike ;-)
May seem normal to you.... but pretty cool for the rest of us.....not every kid rides his bike down to Mavericks and paddles out ;-)
Keep Charging!

God I miss those days. I always showed up by myself, one day Christie Davis (in his very late 40's in '95 or 96) says: "Sean, usually guys from your area show up with a car load of guys and you always show up alone." I said: "I'm cool with all those guys, but kinda do my own thing, plus get an early start..." He and some other guys used to call me and tell me when it was gonna be good and no one out. Those 3 hour window-type days. I felt really honored, to be honest. I only had 2 seasons out there before my accident, so I'm no long-time badass or legend, by any means. But dammit, I charged that bowl from the peak on big days and not even skydiving comes close. (Does rule though, get your ass to Bay Area Skydiving in Byron, Ca. (East Bay-ish) and jump.  And get one for me, Beasho.

God I miss those days. I always showed up by myself, one day Christie Davis (in his very late 40's in '95 or 96) says:  . . . .

Christy is a legend.  I paddled out to Mavericks one day and saw this guy at a distance on an orange board catch a beautiful wave.  He was deep and then got steamrolled.  15 minutes later the orange board paddles back out to the lineup and I say 'Oh high Christy!'  He says man that was a good wave but I took a beating.  Christy was 63.  He caught 2 more waves within 30 minutes before I could even get comfortable.

Another great Christy story was when another surfer, Carrie, was deciding whether to paddle out.  They were watching from the bluff, it was cold, and 10 - 12+ feet and she was whining about a sore knee and getting over a cold . . .  Carrie is the only woman who regularly surfs with us guys when it gets bigger (not Mavericks stuff) but Christy looks at her and says "Carrie I am going to guess your are late 40's, early 50's?  Let me tell you its never going to get any better so take 2 advil, suit up and paddle out."

Then there was this story from Christy's Facebook post.  The now infamous orange board.

And this is over the top.  I guess it got better after I left.  The wipeouts are unreal.

The clip at 0:45 makes me wonder why people complain about SUP's.  Looks like the board might have snapped at the top of the wave.

Beasho..... exactly!

Whiner position:
We ride safe, small, blunt nose nerf boards and respect each other.... not like those dangerous SUP kooks!

yeah.... I see that now  ::)

Any of those big wave boards can be used as a SUP, with the right person.

That was incredible! CA has amazing surf. And surfers.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"
