I've actually thought about getting a long (11'), medium wide sup (29-30") for both prone and sup like Wardog's one world (I should never have sold the one I had).  I really need to win the lotto just to feed this addiction.

SUP is def kinder on the bod!
Told myself I'd ride a regular board before I leave this amazing trip I'm almost done w/here in Encinitas. Grabbed an 8'0" Firewire Sub Moon for a few. Felt nice. Managed to paddle out and catch three nice waves to the beach in an hour.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

@PonoBill: don't worry, you're not missing anything with prone surfing in my opinion. Sure the popup is fun, but I don't think its enough fun to make proning more fun than SUP. And there's nothing stopping me from proning health-wise, and I did it for 20 years before starting SUP, and I pick up the paddle almost every time I go out these days.

It looks like you only SLIGHTLY disagree.  I was thinking about my last surfboard, that I gave away to this kid, and when I would ever use it.  That board was ideal in 6 - 15 foot surf.  On a typical double overhead day I would have spent my time taking beatings, being cold and maybe, just maybe getting some glory.

I still remember my first big day on a SUP.  9 ft @ 17 seconds and I had caught 10 waves without getting my hair wet.  I was up, I was warm, I was catching these graceful beasts and riding them like the Red Dragon in Avatar.  Why would I ever go back?

All well said. And in fact I just gave away a surfboard yesterday...

In my experience prone paddling a SUP is really tricky, at least unless the waves are super soft. Its such a battleship to get moving, and 29" is really wide for laydown paddling, I only get half a stroke. But I guess if the waves are super longboardy it could be fun.

Agreed, and better exercise too. The best exercise on the planet, in my opinion.

I had THE most amazing session on an 8'0" Firewire Submoon in Cardiff during my recent CA trip. After riding sup for like 10 days straight I told myself it would be wrong of me to leave CA w/out riding a regular board. The waves were SO perf for that session and I was thinking I was not going to do to well! Quite the surprise for me that day! I went 15/15 on that board! Best $35 I ever spent on a rental!

Actually it was pure pleasure for a Jersey Boy! Air 50F/Water 40F w/light to moderate offshores. Waves were sooo perfect I had very few bad wipes. That wave the GoPro captured spit really nicely too as I exited that sweet bowl!

Thanx WhatSUP and wry. Here's the sequence of that left bomb! That wave was INSANE! I couldn't believe how perfect it was! I went back out later on my 8'0"Assassin in the afternoon and caught some more amazing waves. Def regret not camming up for those! What was I thinking!

I must be a gluten for punishment.  I am dreaming of making a Hypto Krypto 7' x23" copy for a steep river mouth break...  I have been practicing my popups but dont feel i am getting them anywhere as smooth ro quick as I used to.  I lost 25# but still got 25# to go.  Part of ,my morning routine, was that I used to do a couple of hundred pop ups a day when I lived at a Mexican beach break that was unforgiving on a slow popup..  Now I do 10 and then at the end of the day I do 10 more, and I am beat after that.... At 54yrs old and out of shape, its seems kind of crazy to me go back to proning, but I figure that if I dont do it now, I wont be able to do it later.  SUP is so much easier to catch waves and they are a blast to ride in empty waves, but I hate riding them in areas with other surfers.. So, I hope to be in shape to do both SUP, and prone..
