Big wave standup surf

Just us, no proners uncrowded makeable waves.  I think it's an aged vid but it still gets me stoked.

Yup that's an old one alright, 2008.

Conditions don't look that great to me. Every wave is a close out. Were you in the vid?

In my dreams. The last time I surfed there was 25 years ago. I love the spot.
2008 would have found me learning to balance and tumble on a big easy in 2-3'.

These guys were taking off real deep and for the on shores it wasn't too bad.  Must have been a contest for the lineup to be so sparsely populated.

Wow, boards have improved tremendously since 2008.  That's some great surfing on clunky boards.

Looks like big glassy fun to me! 2008? Ancient history now!
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Good ol' days for sure...;-)
Not Hawaiian sized waves...but, we were starting to push those old narrow beasts into overhead and hollower surf around here over 10 years ago...we did have some epic days Fall/Winter 2006 on those logs...

By 2007 I had a quiver of quad fin SUPs...starting to feel more like surfboards...
By 2008...we definitely were going smaller...I even hooked Treve up with a 7'2"...which he rode as a twin fin...
