Sup spot near Santa Monica?

I haven't posted in a few years.  I am relocating to Santa Monica soon from San Diego for work. Are there any good spots for SUP surfing nearby?

Check my post earlier for "recent swell in No. LA" These are some of your local Santa Monica breaks.

Search for "north LA county" and check out Sunset near Gladstones. That'll get you started. As to right in SaMo, both Bay St. and Ocean Park are decent beach breaks.

I stayed there last year around this time for work and rode at Sunset, nice crowd, good, soft, mushy right.

This is a shot of Sunset, last Monday. It is a generally mellow spot,  beginners are tolerated and it is SUP friendly, assuming proper wave etiquette is followed.

Here are a few more shots from Monday; I focused on the SUPs I saw out. The ratio was one or two SUPs to thirty proners.

Yeah, I definitely stayed on the 2nd break further off the main point and that ratio was about right, but everyone was really friendly, no issues there.

Sunset works best on South and Southwest swells, like most spots on the northern curve of Santa Monica Bay. However it also picks up West and Northwest swells better than some more famous spots, like Malibu, because it is lower down the bay. It is a slower, mushier wave than some other spots, but because of that it can handle a lot of size, without closing out even on big days.

Laszlo, here is a good aerial view of Sunset to the North. It includes some entertaining footage. My guess is he launched around where Altata and Alma Real Drive is today.

Looks like he didn't stick the landing! Although apparently all he lost were some teeth.
