I just can't believe all the people who take their wetsuit off at the beach here in winter. I would severely freeze doing that. I get cold way too easy.

That might be a good argument for a quick drying suit.  I'm only minutes from the beach so I usually just throw a FCS changing poncho over the drivers seat and hop in.
Why not just get in wearing the poncho?

Guys

I can't believe you guys pay that kinda money for wetsuits. I've been loving the Hyperflex  VooDoo for COLD winter conditions Less than 1/2 the price and SUPreme 4/3 is kinda in between a glued and taped COLD water suit (with added mobility) for even less

They are both SUPER flexibile/SOFT  and very durable The ONLY thing they don't have is BIG add budgets like the big wetsuit companies have...Do Big Ad budget make v a suit better?

just my thoughts

Jim, yes that really was the point of this thread.  Are the new wetsuit technologies including geoprene, Yulex, compression, quick dry fibers, etc. really worth the extra spend?

Hmm. Amazonia has the Voodoo Hyperflex for 377 and my Quiksilver for 349..

And I change into a trash bag in the front seat of my truck 🚚 with the heat ON!

I learned the hard way that a chest zip 5/4/3 is nearly impossible to get off if you have broad shoulders.

Luckily i have developed a proprietary technique that resembles zumba with a added help of a car snowscraper to get the thing off me.

That's just how lazy I am A10.  The hood on the poncho does fit nicely on the head rest.

So, out of all the available new technology that I'm seeing, Yulex seems to have the most appeal to me form a performance and ecological standpoint.  It's seems like bad timing for Patagonia and Yulex as they are rolling out this domestically produced bio-rubber at a time when petroleum is dirt cheap.  Oh well...

Environmently sound, but word is they stretch and stay stretched. Let's see if they still are making them next season. Anyone remember Patagonia Neoprene Drysuit..

lol...+1 I loved the warmth of my 6/5/4 hooded excel infinity drylock but getting out of it at the beach required Houdini like moves and dislocation of major joints. Much easier to go home in my suit and change in a hot shower. I'm going to take creeks old man advice, enough straight jackets.

No, but I suppose that's the point Mr Big...good to consider.

And yes, to you guys who remind me of my advancing inflexibility, this is always a factor.  My go to suit for late fall is a 3/2 Heat 3/4 zip...does not get much easier than that.  But, it does flush.

Only took me a month but my local surf shop, BNW in Little Silver, hooked me up with a nice Psycho Tech 5.5/4 (at 30% off).  Fits great, feels good, what more could I ask...maybe some waves?

Xcel suits are toasty...I use them only now but also because they fit me well. Warmer than O'Neill IMHO.
