I don't know about surfing but indoor rock climbing gyms changed the game for people who can't get to the crags 2-3 times per week.  Seems similar.

Oh and to experience that perfection for a few hours...

Can't argue that it's a perfect wave, but I wonder if something can be too perfect.  No surprises, no variation...hmmm.

I heard Kelly Slater say that they could change the shape of the wave and it looks like the tube is pitching out a little more than it was in the first video.

Somebody will break their neck the first year, they'll be sued, and go out of business.

Hard to sue the ocean, but I'm sure they are working on it.

A simple release form could take care of that.
It takes a quiver to do that.

Carbon copy perfection or not, I can't think of a single thing, in my lifetime, that has can put better perma-press smiles on those who have ridden it.
The joy is boundless!!!!!
So with that alone, I consider it an unbelievable success.
It takes a quiver to do that.

nice site--no sup--no sponge either, so far--one clip of a body-surfer

money talks--i would imagine we will get access

has to be fresh water--wonder if buoyancy difference is noticeable?

Really interesting stuff!

Growing up in south Texas there aren't a lot of big surfers. Galveston doesn't have the waves needed for it for the most part.

I could see places like Schlitterbahn and other water parks leasing or buying the rights to use the technology and building this up.

I wondered if the wave had been modified after the second batch of videos came out and according to that article it has...

"The wave, too, has been tweaked. Slater asked for modifications to the lake’s bottom to adjust the wave’s shape and power."
