Action camera & paddle mount options?
« on: November 30, 2015, 02:07:08 PM »
I'm trying to figure out a good camera to mount on my paddle.  I'm not planning on using any other mounts.  I find the regular GoPros a bit too big on the paddle mount.

I'm leaning towards the GoPro Session as it's shape looks a little less intrusive. I'm not a videophile, so the quality of the Session would be fine for me--I just need decent 1080p video and 0.5 second stills.  And the price has come down to $236 (as of this writing).

But, I'm wondering if anyone out there has found any other good options for a paddle cam.  Anyone using a "tube" shaped action cam?  Any DIY mounts that work great?  Any recommendations in general?

I've just bought a new GoPro Session and plan to do this.

This would work well with a light camera. My lightest mount was 25 grams.

I shortened the shaft piece on one end to come almost to the camera mount to give the option of getting closer to the blade.

Love it!  Thanks Bill.  I have my Ke Nalu cut off piece kicking around somewhere.  Something told me it could come in useful at some point.  ....further encouraging my pack rat ways!
