Thanks. In 1-2 videos i have used the FCS Spitfire.

So which fin do you prefer in which conditions? Which fin turns better? Thanks.

From 10 to 30-35 knots i use the Aercor. 1-2 times that we had 40+knots i used the Spitfire. It's more stable than the Aercor but i has noticeable drag and it's harder to surf the board. The Aercor turns the board much better.

Hello DK78,
What are the practical differences in your opinion between the older design (Rage 245L) and the newer design (Downwind 288L)?
I think that you had the Rage in 27" before and now the Downwind in 26"?

Cheers,

Luc

Hi Luc,

The practical differences between the old and the new board are the speed and the stability. When i had made the order i was questioning myself if I have made the right choice, because the previous model was already very fast and stable. I think that the old Rage and the Bullet V2 have the same feeling, they catch easily the bumps and surf nice from the tail.
But the new Rogue downwind is at another level in my opinion. Basically this board never stops, it is always on glide. It catches the bumps easily and most importantly, it never looses speed when you hit the back of the bump in front of you, it just keeps moving. The new concept in the nose design works very good.
About stability, when you are on planning it’s a lot more stable than the previous as it has more litres in the tail, but, there is a but :) the old was a little easier to surf it from the tail. The new one has no problem at all but it needs a little more pressure from the rear foot. Basically i prefer the thicker tail as it gives me more confidence when i am on full speed and the board still turns pretty easy.
I think these are the main differences. If someone else had the chance to ride the board i would like to hear his thoughts.

Cheers
Dimitris

Thank you very much Dimitris, really useful information.

Do you know what the weight of the R1 construction is?  I did not see it listed on the Rogue website.

I do not and that is my gripe with Rogue. They do not show the weights.
The 2013 Rogue Rage at 245L is about 28 lbs.
The 2015 Downwinder R1 at 288L is likely to be at or above that weight unless there has been some big improvement in the type of construction and material used.

Cheers,

Luc

I have asked the weight messaging on their FB page but have not heard anything back yet. I guess that it might not be the best selling feature.

Maybe dk can get us the weights of the different constructions and widths?

Dimitris is riding a custom board 26" so it is likely lighter than factory 27" but might give some indication maybe.

I know the Production Manager for Rogue and he told me that the carbon construction should be about 25lbs for a 14' board while the fiberglass version would be about 30lbs but these were approximate figures.  I asked about the 14x25 Downwind model.

If you want to order a 2016 model for spring delivery, you'll likely need to order before Christmas and ideally mid December.

Hi guys, my 2015 board is 28.5 lbs but the new 2016 that i am waiting is going to be lighter as Rogue informed me. By the way at 28.5 lbs the board doesn’ t feel heavy while paddling or trying to catch bumps.

So 2015 14x26 is 28.5 lbs (DK) and 2016 14x25 25lbs (Argosi) , this should put the 2015 14x27 around 30 lbs mark.
I do not think that I would order a board this season with the weak CAD and shipping from the USA it puts new boards for us in Canada at a heavy price.
I will just keep my eyes open for a used/demo 2015 14x27 if any show-up in Canada.

Cheers,

Luc

Correct. Not the lightest but rock solid. Doesn't get dings easily and you won't really need railsaver tape.

I received a brief reply from Rogue indicating that the 2015 Downwind 14x27 is 29 lbs almost the same than Dimitries' 14x26 at 28.5 lbs.
29 lbs for a durable 288L downwind board sounds pretty good in my book. Nothing to be ashamed off, not sure why it is not published.

I heard from Rogue that if you want a 2016 board from a Canadian retailer, you may have to order it now for Spring delivery to the retailer. I'm tempted to order the 2016 Downwind model, but it's hard for me to justify 2 downwind boards.
