Why Sunova SUP's? Bert Burger.... here's an intro
« on: November 22, 2015, 07:44:53 AM »
A shapers shaper.
Heart and soul.
In it for the right reason.... pure passion to surf and make great boards!

Bert was raised on the shores of Western Australia.
The surf is always up along Bert’s home turf of the 12,000 km coastline of Western Australia, and so it is rightly famous for its quality and variety of surf, and the perfect testing ground for Bert and his Sunova surfboards.
Plenty of reefs, beaches and point breaks – take your pick.

Bert started Sunova in 1976 and was the genius behind "Firewire" surfboards

He has been designing, innovating and building sandwich construction and vacuum bagged surfboards for over 23 years. (

Yeah.... SUP construction for surfboards, years before the 1st sandwich construction SUP.....how perfect is THAT?

A few years ago, Bert started making SUP's at the request of his team riders... that grew into the Sunova SUP line of 2016.

Performance comes from shape, and durability comes from construction..... Bert has it all.

Here's a video about shaping, from 2010, to get you acquainted with the guy that just might shape your next SUP.... at 2:58 it hits SUP on the nose.

Sunova's are amazing light and MUCH stronger than I expected (like bounce accross the concrete parking lot with no damage)
Shapes are amazing (Bert Burger enough said)
The quality of the construction is OUTSTANDING (Pictures don't do these boards justice)
At a surprisingly good price

If you want more details feel free to PM me Or just ask here whatever you feel comfortable with

Jimmy.... you aren't throwing any of MY Sunovas onto any concrete :o

Sheesh..... but I'm willing to see how YOURs hold up to that  :)

They are an awesome build.... but like any fiberglass construction, place gently if near concrete.

Creek,
you are RIGHT We are NOT saying these boards can be REGULARLY BOUNCED across a parking lot BUT...
I had 2 occasions this summer where Sunova's were blown across the parking lot (It's kinda windy at Lakes Bay) BOUNCING several times and coming to rest on a far curb unharmed
That is my (well a bunch of us saw it happen) story and I'm sticking to IT!
