Vero Beach, FL ?

Just bought a winter home in Vero Beach,FL  after 10 years in overcrowded and ever expanding Delray Beach.

Anyone SUP around VB?  I know Sebastian inlet is just north and Jensen Beach to the south for surf which I look forward to , but any flat water recommendations or fun excursions you can suggest?
also any pubs, restaurants etc that are not to be missed  don't know the town too well but like what we saw.

My parents have lived in Ft Pierce on the island since the 80s .  I have always surfed at the Ft Pierce north jetty. Its by far the best place close to you because the of the Jetty . It used to be pretty sup unfriendly but had really good sessions the last few times visiting .  There is a park just across from the SEAL museum that has great mangrove paddling ?  The intercoastal also can get great winds perfect for a downwind runs but I dont have the right board to try it with.   Might have a rivera nugg to sell in the next year as my parents really need to move to assisted living . 

Coming down in january for a "wellness" check and would love to meet up ?

Ft Pierce actually has a new decent brewery  (I live in portland oregon ).  Check out sailfish brewing

Ha, ron--we've tried to connect in maine but the more likely may be VB. My folks settled at JI down there years ago. Mom since died but my Dad, same as P06, is teetering on the brink of assisted living. We are going to keep the house whatever happens with Dad, so i will get down there with some regularity. Especially since this shop set up:

If this "airline" can make it work, it's a windfall for me. We love VB. It's just right in terms of build-up, not like Palm Beach, Miami etc. And it's not as pricey restaurant-wise etc in VB, but still very good food around. Plenty of elderly--the whole damned economy seems to be heath care=related, but that's FL. Watch out for my Dad, when youre out driving!

Only prob has been flying in. It's not really weekendable. Spirit used to fly to Melbourne, which was ok, but that ceased, and now it's either Olrnado or West Palm, both 1 hr 45 min drives. Always fly to Orlando bc the rentacar connection is way quicker there. West Palm one waits for a bus then gets dumped into a big line at outpost rentacar setups--none are in airport. Orlando if you know the game (get on the front of the monorail from the gate) you can get in a car in ten mins if you only have carry on.

Anyway, next time down ill be flying to VB muni--used to only be for private jets! now flunkies like me! And the fare is close to that of the mainstream carriers. Ten minute cab from my Dad's house, where there are cars and no need to rent.

Always surfed at Sebastian and Wabasso. Wabasso can be a nasty beach break. Tweaked my neck in the scariest of ways sponging there once. No damage at all, but a few more pounds of pressure would have been bad. I never ventured beyond these breaks as I always had to hustle given family activities.

Flying down January 12th to 19th to visit my parents .  Hoping to get a few days of surf in .  Zoner meetup?

P06781. Absolutely. I travel a lot for work, but no plans yet for those dates...Give me a pm on the zone and if I am around I'd love to get together for a paddle, surf and a beer.  We move in next week, so by Jan I hope I know the place and surf spots well enough...
