« on: October 05, 2015, 03:50:11 AM »
1 time lesson and we were hooked, New 10.5 ATX boards expected this week and looking forward to hitting the local rivers/coves. Any advice on gear, will I need wetsuit/combo to enjoy some water in Oct.....hope to stay dry but want to ensure Im ready for a splash in the water.

Any locals with good launch sites to suggest, know of Jonas and Spa Greek, hope to get into backyard Magothy/Severn too...

Thx

I am in CSC on the Magothy, Little Magothy can be good in winter when the Magothy gets too rough.  The end of Amos Garrett in Annapolis is a good launch at the head of Spa Creek.  Definitely get good booties and maybe wetsuit pants by Supreme, etc, I find full wetsuits are too hot in winter.  Just stay close to shore/ shallow water when it is cold!

Thx, I believe that the spot that was pointed out in Spa Greek. Will look for some launch spots in Lower Mag, theres so many around here but are mostly community access. I have a spot near me but its a 3plus foot drop into water, figure it would be difficult to stay out of water launching.  Will look around locally for some pants/booties. Def want to enjoy the new board and dont want to let the cool air/water slow me too much...

Welcome!  I'm a Naptown-er as well (CSC).  I favor sus'ing so can't be much help as far as flat water options other than there's a million options here in town between Magothy, Severn, Spa Creek, South River, etc and  then of course you have beautiful area around St Michaels, Oxfore, etc.

I tend to launch at Deep Creek public ramp (CSC side) and paddle out to the Magothy whenever I get a twitch between surf sessions.

East of Maui is a good local shop and couple of th guys are big into paddling.  Super nice too!!!!

Hope to See ya round!!!

Thx for the info and welcome. Have taken the boards out a few times in the upper Magothy so far.

WhatSUP and Kneil, do u guys access Deep Creek and Little Magothy via marinas or are there free access points to share?

Thx...
