Doable?

Definitely BW, but it does seem to stretch the definition of SUP.

That was my first thought as well. I guess if you have to stand and paddle it, you're getting close....but is it a board?  :)

a. French.
b. Sure it's a SUP. Ever see a transatlantic solo rowboat? They look like survival rafts. You row it, it's a rowboat. Stand up and paddle it, it's a standup paddle board. Or maybe a Gondola.
c. French.

It may or may not be a board, but he is aboard.

Don't know if it's doable, but certainly admirable.  He's already done some unbelievable things--like 151k in 24 hrs.

Doable?

On that tiny thing? I don't think so. Sonya Baumstein tried to cross the Pacific on something twice that size and called it quit after eight days, one of the safety issues being her ability to see other (larger) ships and their ability to see her.

Absolutely doable, and absolutely SUP!

You wouldn't want to do it on your 10' All-Rounder.....

What size was  Slocum's skiff? And tbose oceangoing rowers....

Through both active and passive radar reflectors it's pretty easy to be seen by other vessels out there.  Interestingly one of the active radar reflectors is the Sea-me.  I kid you not.

*shrug* Radar navigation is beyond my pay grade but here's  the quote from her website:
"Furthermore, she was receiving constant AIS alarms which given the weather conditions so far made it impossible to see the many vessels near her."

Highly amusing, but not the source of my Zone user name.  ;D

In addition to thoroughly enjoying a little Carson, that is a truly amazing accomplishment and story. Wow. Thanks for posting.

That's amazing. I complain about the six hour flight.
