New Zealand North Island
« on: September 21, 2015, 06:59:31 PM »
My wife and I were thinking Costa Rica, but New Zealand has been on my bucket list for a long time and needed to be crossed off 1st.
We are heading there mid Feb - mid March. So far we booked the last week at Ahipara in the Northland. We are open to some suggestions for areas with some SUP friendly surfing!
Thanks,
Fanman

Fanman,

There is an excellent guide on to NZ breaks sold on www.surf2surf.com

As for Sup friendly we don't seem to have as many haters here just, your grumpy old long boarders and dumb young shorties that think its cool to hate.  At that time of year the summer crowds will have gone back to work so the breaks should be pretty clear that far north

Looks like a pretty awesome place to surf.  At least I think this is Ahipara.

Your right zoo Shippies is just west of Ahipara. You can see Ahipara to the left in that video

Its one of the legendary breaks in NZ.

Yes, looks pretty fun! Maybe we will get get lucky with the conditions?

Are both coast surf able that time of the year? Thinking  of staying near Gisborne and hope to check out Raglan too ✔️

Thx
