Sunova Speeed handle
« on: September 03, 2015, 07:44:47 PM »
What everyone experience with the pull out handle?  I was playing with one the other day and it seems on the water it is not going to be as effective  to pull myself back on the board as a regular handles.  I'm often in a panic to get out of the impact zone so it seem time can be lost fumbling with the pull out handle.

Or is there something im missing?

Just forget using the handle to pull yourself up. There is only room for one finger to go in where you lift up the handle, and that will not do you any good. The board is narrow and thin enough that it is easy just to reach across to the opposite rail and use that to pull yourself on board. Right from the first day, I never found it to be an issue at all. I will still use the handle on wider / thicker boards, but no need for it on the Speeed.

Yep use it to get to the water pop it down and forget about it. Come to think of it I don't rember ever using any handle to help getting back on board. Wasn't long ago the first gen. sup boards never had one.

i have never used a handle to climb back on when in the water--seems that would slow a work zone escape

I've never heard of anyone using the handle to get back on the board. I don't even see how that would work. Seems like it would make it a lot more difficult.

yep.... never use the handle to "walrus crawl" back onto my Speeed, I just lay my forearms across the deck, push down with my elbows near the rail, and lurch my body onto the board  :)
