Riding Ignacio
« on: September 02, 2015, 04:08:58 PM »
Yesterday the wind was slightly onshore when the surf was biggest but today even though smaller, was offshore.  Here's two well known guys splitting a peak inside the harbor in the early light this morning.

Jeremy and I figured the wind was too strong by the time we were on it and opted for the OC-2 which turned out to be the right craft for the job.  Nice two hour circling session and then it just went dead flat like hurricane swells do.  It was still wicked hot and getting hotter so we bailed.  Must have shed about 5 pounds of water.

If you come here and want to get the 'feel' of waves look up Jeremy, Paddle with Riggs.  He's real good and will up your game from where ever it is.  The OC-2 is a great learning tool.

Cool pix.

My neighbor and I started tossing around the idea of going to Maui for a surf vacation.  I know a guy who has a house in Kehei (?), but haven't talked to him in a while, he was planning on retiring full time there.

A baby, mini, eetsy bittsy downwinder for retarded haole SUPer would be nice, but I would have to rent a downwind board here and practice for a while on it.

Looks like a Kenalu Canoe paddle. I have a couple myself. they work pretty darned well, but they're noisy. If you get in a six man people will be yelling at you for your crap technique, even if you do everything right.

Inside Kahului Harbor.  It has to be very big outside and it was.  Like winter only uber hot.
