Sharing a wave with a shortboard ripper
« on: August 28, 2015, 08:53:43 PM »
Had fun with a local  ripper on a mellow wave tonight.

I have done this a lot with friends on longboards..... I was a little unsure of the timing with a shortboard..... but it worked out.

At the showers, a kid toting 2 short board, said "that board rips!"

No hate here.....Life is good in my world ;D

Fun stuff Creek. You got some Ohana there.

Your comment about the shower made me envious. The State of California shut off all the water to the showers at the beaches. Going to have to start hauling around a porta-shower. I miss that shower:(
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Thanks TD......  we are pretty lucky.... but then, we do a good job of separating and sharing, so the mood is pretty mellow.

Creek,
That's awesome, I have party waved with my son before but never for that long.  I find the younger surfers cool with SUS, they always ask me questions and want to try it.  Its the older dudes that always give me grief because they feel entitled and they feel somehow like they own the spot because they grew up there.  They feel the need to give me stern advice from time to time, but most younger guys are cool as long as you follow the rules, which I do.  Those waves look like fun.

Creek:  Hah!!!!  What did you say him at that critical point about min 0:20?  "Stay on, stay on?" ,  "Dude, Really?", or "I ain't getting off!"

Love it!

NICE ride! Successful shares are always a good feeling.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

That's cool, Creek! :D

My experience too and I was thinking about that last night while out there with a lot of kids in the water. The kids seem cool with it and even seem to be intrigued with the sport.

Creek the elder gets respect... :).

Mellow vibe Sunday afternoon, lots of sharing, brought a BIG smile to a lady longboarder when I gave her a ladies 1st to a beauty of a set wave. Lots of genuine interest in how the CCBC went from some of the shortboarders. One of the great things about the Cape is that there is less issues mixing craft, always plenty of room to spread out and days like Sunday when its just wave after wave you can catch a wave and then watch every wave after you with someone on it, lots of waves and smiles to go around.

One of the cooler things posted here Rick, glad you captured it.  Pretty sure it would have been a scream fest locally.
