on the other side of town ---  Eastham's CG @ 7:30am today, I saw a seal get taken out.  200 yards outside the break.  Start to finish with birds diving on the leftovers 15 seconds

My guess would be keyhole saw, but it might have been some other tool. Perhaps some grom's head?

Very credible event with plenty of witnesses:

Certainly possible. Any bite out of a surfboard can look odd, but that doesn't look "right". Doesn't mean it isn't. Looks more like what a bull shark would do, if there were Bull Sharks in California (there are, but pretty much only south, and even there they are rare). A Juvie white has a jaw with a low arc. As they get bigger the arc gets deeper but has a characteristic double peak. Of course that all varies with individual sharks, and the fiberglass and foam is gonna crack the way it chooses. But If I make a fake sharkbite board, it's going to be precisely correct for an 18' white.

Stand by. I just don't know what I'd want to sacrifice.

Hey Ron, Notice the lack of crowds at CG these days. Even Nauset was closed recently. Go north my friend!!  8)

I saw a big one up close and personal at CGB about 2 weeks ago.  The line up cleared fast, and I have to thank the shortboarder that pointed out the man in the grey suit and suggested I exit the venue. It was shortly after the tide flooded the sandbar and sent all the smaller seals swimming.  Now back home in "safer" waters this video shows up.  They've always been there, but I'm thinking about them a little bit more...

i am knocking hard on corian, but i have never seen a shark or even heard of one seen in my usual spots--which span from western RI to northern NJ--havent been out east on LI more than a few times a year of recent, but know many who surf out there and same applies.

sorry to hear sharks are a factor at the cape--not sure why i dont see or hear of them down my way.

Kinda glad the only thing we have to watch out for in our line up is too much chlorine in the pool!    ;D

Eastbound, you surf in the Mako-ville neighborhood. Lots of food, lots of sharks.

makos look cool and scary but arent a threat that I am aware of.

the 15 second start to finish--with nothing but a few birds hanging out following--that's scary
