SUS superstitious
« on: August 26, 2015, 10:42:36 AM »
Ok  so what are your sup/sus superstitions?

Mine are:

loading the  board the right way,  fins forward deck down
playing the beach boys California saga  on the way to  the beach
getting the proper high ranking parking space
trying to have a good attitude  with all the tourists  in my way on the way to the beach so........ Karma  doesn't bite my ass.
not  getting my  hair wet on the way
SEA BIRDS THEY DO TOUCH AND GO AS THE WORLD JUST TANGOES BY.... SO I SADDLE UP MY SEAHORSE WITH MY FLYROD IN MY HAND.... 10'3 King custom  10'6"  c4 da beachboy

This is a good one!

For me (these are pretty important for a good session):

Same thing with the board loading- fins forward, deck down.

One of about 6 prime parking spots at my usual beach.

Fins forward on the walk out

Gotta see seals out beyond the lineup.

I also have a good luck charm or two and preferred music, but I don't want to come across as overly superstitious, just healthily superstitious!

If the board is on the roof, check it three times. Three shall be the number of the checking and the number of checking shall be three.
Bring two leashes. If I forget the spare I usually forget the primary.
High ranking parking spot.
Take a poolside meeting with a small NBA point guard. (Only at my primary SUS location)
Leave the last sip of coffee for when I get out.

Car park sets.
When anyone you've been surfing with leaves the water there "will" be a decent set come through.
So alway hang on for just one more.

Board goes in the bag in the back of my truck nose first fins up.

Parking spot is key but usually not an issue.

Walk to beach with board in right arm nose pointing front and paddle in left arm.

At shore place board on beach to my right,  nose pointing toward the ocean with deck up and place paddle on the board deck. Then I scope out the conditions and count the sets.

I got my first real wedgie in that water park!  Probably '87 or '88.  I had wedgies before, but nothing like the one I got there from that slide.

I don't know if it's superstition, but I do feel spiritually cleansed when I am out there, something I never expected given the trepidation and timidity I always felt about the ocean before I ventured out onto it.

So near the pressures of the hive, and yet so far just a few hundred feet offshore.

I don't consider it a superstition, but when I first touch the water on bigger days I like to visualize a white light around myself and my board that extends 6' in all directions. And then I affirm that only those things that are for my highest good can enter that light. I call it "the white light policy." :)

Not really superstitious but the Nate Mott band CD is the only thing I listen to on the way to a session. Always sets the mood. They were the 1st CCBC band before they moved to LA.

I had never heard of the Nate Mott band but that is a good song! What does CCBC mean?

OK...I think that means that Magenta reads very few of my posts....;)

CCBC is Cape Cod Bay Challenge

Never understood why those guys never hit it big. Great music, very listenable and some very danceable.
