I've done a lot of waterproofing, and I'd say it's never trivial. Hard to make something that can be opened for battery replacement or charging that stays waterproof, but it can be done. the inductive chargers that are showing up on cell phones will soon make their way into other products and onto sparkfun, and that will help a lot.

That's a lot of bucks for a disposable RGB LED light.

Yup....I figure $10 for 3 would still make a profit. Not something I'd buy many of but good to have for convenience sake if/when you need them.

OK gang,

so I got a set of 3 lights to help protect me during dusk runs.  The lighting and battery part of them work OK.  Even though they are small, they are visible.

Problem is the waterproofing technique.  They simply heat seal in a little plastic cover. The back of the cover that holds the adhesive bulges out, not flat.  Due to this they do not adhere to the board for more than 1/4" or so.  I didn't like this so I used an extra duo type 3m velcro.  A little better and I can take them off when not needed.  If they wanted this to work on sups they need to bulge inward not outward.

I did get a very dark ending to a run last week, and I was glad to have them but in general,

Glowmaster does not recommend this product.

Good to hear some real experience with them. I was wondering how well they stick. I noticed what you are saying and wondered if that would effect their use. I need to ask the paddle captains if any fell off during the crossing.

Actually a heat seal is pretty damned clever. Why didn't I think if that. I could use my sous vide vacuum sealer for all kinds of stuff. Wow. I'm liking this. Now I need to just find a good, cheap, inductive charger component. One of the things holding up the RC Rudder is reliable waterproofing. There we have it.

Yay, Adafruit!  If I were young and single I'd chase Limor Fried like a crazed stalker. Hmmm, well maybe that wouldn't work out. Brains and beauty and bright red hair.

Have you guys seen this?
THe future of windsurfing
the  first foils sucked...but it works for kites....this should get rid of hobby horsing, but I bet a powered up slalom rig with a Kashy fin will beat the drag on this.

More to the point....Integrated Headlights!!!

For sup...I'm happy with a glow stick anchored to the take off point for the wave...not the board
Too many for the rack
Some in the shack
Some under decks
Some have straps
