Thickness is also very important and many are omitting this dimension although from the stats on volume compared to length and width, you kind of get the rough idea of how thick a board is.

For where I am short and fat sounds less attractive to me than a similar volume that is  longer and thinner.  Thickness would be my favorite part to reduce.

One thing I'll add is that I've never gone out for a session, whether in big scary surf or shin-high mush, and not had fun. This includes surfing a variety of boards. I posted the specs of my current every day board but there have been countless occasions where I've been on boards much larger, including my race boards, and it's always fun. Catching a wave, regardless of the board and what you do on the wave, is always fun to me and never gets old.

+1!
 ;D

Although, I have more fun on some days than others.
But I always seem to have fun - even flat paddle.

Agree.  I've been riding the 10'6 off and on again and had a lot of fun.  Different kind of fun as opposed to the 7'4, but in some ways, it was more fun.

+2 on Kayadogg :)
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Foote Triton here too...174L

My 9' South County I'd guess to be about 170 or 180 My 8-4 Vec is 160

I like mixing it up a lot. I often have my 14, 10-4, and 8-4 all on my truck and had days I used them all.

  6'4" / 225 / 60 years old

  Bill Foote Triton.  ten footer  / 32" / V 152.

I change up the fins a lot.

1 to 3 feet mushy waves I put (2) 4 3/4 Donald Takayama "Halo"  side fins with a 7" middle fin pushed up in the box.  Makes the board really turny and loose…super fun!

Over 4 feet or reef wave I put (2) 4 3/4 side fins and 7" middle fin one inch back from the front of the fin box.  Makes the board much more stable and predictable.

Over ten foot faces.  I put large Paddle Surf Hawaii quad fins in and use a small 2" trailer in the middle.  Paddles sort of slow but doesn't spin out.

I'm 5'8" x 170 lbs

Naish Nalu GT: 10'6" x 30" x 4" @ 160 L

Fanatic Allwave: 8'10" x 31" @ 146 L

Zooport - my Allwave's on the market, in case you're looking to shake your seller's remorse.  :)

PonoBill - are you sure you didn't mean circumference? At 38" in diameter, you're gonna need a bigger board!  :D
