NICE! Looks like a nice alternative to ALWAYS surfing! Place looks pretty remote! Great water color and wildlife too. btw-is there any rideable surf out there?
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Reports are that there is rideable surf on other parts of the island facing the right direction. accessible by boat.  About 2/3d's of the island is sanctuary, and requires special permits to enter.

The parts where we went were deep water abutting on cliffs.  There were few areas of shoaling or reefs.

It would probably take an IMAX 3D camera to get the proper effect of the water and the beauty.

Agree, pretty stunning place.  Like SUPcheat says, there are ridable waves in summer and winter, both are about an 8 mile paddle from camp.  For years, we have been trying to figure out how to make surfing happen on one of these trips.  Unfortunately all the spots, Moore's Meadows, Yellow Banks and Chinese Harbor are well known and get crowded on summer weekends.
