Yea Friday would be good.  I'll be setting up the ULI tent in the afternoon and will be thirsty after.  If you would like to use it as a Zoner meet up during the event point stop on by.

From the Doheny lookout this morning, it looked like the race was already on. Probably at least 50 or more race boards bashing in and out through the surf. A pretty good size set hit while I was checking it out. I saw some carnage. There were race boards spiraling in to the air right and left. There was probably 15 race boards on one wave. No one was standing after it closed out. It's supposed to be bigger tomorrow.

I have a feeling there will be a bunch of snapped race boards before the race even starts. Like a roofer after the first rain, the local repair guys are going to be busy.

Im going to hit sano this morning and doho after. Should be a great day. Chuck Patterson got a lifetime achievement award  at the sup awards last night. Well deserved and the highlight of the evening for me. A truly great guy.

Nice pics Talldude.  We have had little waves here as well.  Covesurfer has been out on a prone longboard.  You guys have fun

Looks like potential carnage at DoHo.

Santa Cruz was bigger today than predicted. There were some powerful closeouts and head highs around Sharks.  Steamer Lane looked like some were almost double overhead on surfcam.

It's supposed to be bigger tomorrow.  I don't know if I want to go out or not and get caught in the waring blender of insanely crowded breaks, large waves, powerful closeouts, and being caught on the inside.

I got blasted today, but caught some pretty exotic roller coaster rides, though. I'm glad I wore my helmet.  The board smacked down onto my head twice.

If I go out tomorrow, I think I will wear two leashes on the waist band.

I  was  going  to  go  to  Sano, but  it  looked  good  here  at Sunset  Cliffs  at   high  tide .  I  waited  until  low  tide  and  the  wind  turned  it  to  crap.

Because of recent heavy rains a sand bar has developed right at the river mouth at DoHo.  It's breaking way outside now which will put the buoy turns well into the inside. People are going to be swimming for their boards. Going to be fun to watch. I'll take more pictures. I'm race the distance race Sunday.

I love that as soon as someone plans a race, we get a big south swell.

Please plan more races.

Nice pics Matt !  Who was the OC paddler flying the ama?  I saw him when I was setting up this afternoon and he had some nice slides.

I watched the men's qualifying race yesterday online. I am not into racing personally, and the races I have seen until this one have never looked interesting to me, from a spectator's viewpoint. But the race yesterday, in and out through the sizable surf, was the most fun to watch race I have ever seen! Seeing those pros riding waves on 14' race boards was impressive.
