I've got a room at the Seaside.  Is it reasonable walking distance to carry boards and gear from there?  Looks like it could still be a trek.

That's a good trek from there. Not bad without a board or beach stuff but it's a bit of a haul when carrying a board. 2 years ago at the last BOP at Doho, we had to park all the way down in the south end of the Doho lot, close to Seaside. We just got in the water and paddled over instead of walking. Much easier.

I wouldn't be carrying a board for the competition, may borrow my neighbor's collapsible bike and see if the Prowave fits inside the Subaru's chassis. Looks like you could just plop the board in across the street of the motel and paddle over, anyway, less than a mile or so.

A bike is a good idea. You can probably see the overflow parking from Seaside. A very long schlep for a geezer carrying a 18' speedboard.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

I paddle out there sometimes. It's a steep walled shore break... a sand pound if there is any kind of swell. There are usually a few little channels were you can get out pretty easy. No one really surfs or swims there. Great BBQ spot :) Seaside is a cool little place. Definitely eat at El Patio just up the street where PCH curves into old Capo Beach.

I'll see you at D patch. The water has cooled down a little and the crowds have thinned. Should be a mellow week.

Just saw the warning posted on PPG site about swell and helmets http://ppg.supthemag.com/news/attention-all-ppg-racers/

It does look like there's something building there but any locals want to chime in on how significant what's predicted is?  Looks like it will make things a bit more fun but still nothing approaching Salt Creek carnage.

Cool. Pretty weenie today, windy and choppy at 2:00 when I got there. Anytime Im the only person out other than a couple of surfers is good though, so I stayed until almost 5:oo and surfed wherever I wanted. so that was fun. Long paddle back to the truck  the surfers were surprisingly welcoming except for onr kook who yelled at me. I paddled over and said "It's just you and me. Won't you be lonely here with just you and that eight foot juvenile white shark I just saw over there (pointing)."

No shark really, but when I  moved away from him he paddled straight in. Bye, bye, dumbshit

"Leashes are required in all ages and divisions beside Pro."

Wasn't the guy who died in the Gorge a pro?

... and shouldn't the pros set an example?

It's basically a really long board competition. The racers, or performers need freedom from the leash for stylistic maneuvers.... Man...

What's with the cop attitude?  Man...

It might get a little rough out there... but life's rough..

Y'all have a good one. I'll miss you guys but Hawaii is a good enough substitute. Family wedding and a week of surf should set my head right.

I expect some photos.
