Very cool. Same date as the BOP. I hope they use a similar paddle trophy. I have two spots left on my wall hanger. The benefits of being old and having weird boards.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Definitely a watered down version of BOP as far as the courses go, but nice to have the race void filled. A 6 mile distance race, is not what I consider a distance race. 10 or 14 miles is a distance race IMO. In order to keep things moving event wise, I'm sure 6 miles makes more sense. I think if they can keep it simpler and manageable financially, they might make it work. I always thought that the Big Stage aspect of BOP was unnecessary, and the Ohana was exclusive.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Hey Chris, I'm going to come down and surf even if I don't do the PPG (I probably will). So please reserve the condo for me. Week before as usual, leaving the Sunday after.

Won't be any carnage to speak of, it's Doheny. If they do the giant demos there will be a lot of bodies in every wave--that yields some interesting moments, but it's not salt Creek.

I did sign up. $237 to do both events. They seem to have changed their minds about the 12'6" race class for men and 14' class for women--at least you can register for that. Weirdness persists though. there's age classes for "technical" which is the course race, but none for distance. I guess distance races are easier for geezers. A six mile distance race isn't much of a distance. I do more than that pretty much every day, sometimes three times that.

Well, it's their first rodeo, though there certainly is the pattern of many before this to follow.

Ok the PPG reg is open.  Who's in?

https://paddleguru.com/races/PacificPaddleGamespresentedbySaltLife

I went to register but hesitated when I saw the entrance fee is $115 for the same open race for which BOP charged $85. At least with the BOP you got some Rainbow Sandals with the entrance.  PPG is including some kind of knock-off sandals, I see.  Still mulling it over.

CPA = Olukai are not knock offs !!  Probably the most expensive surf co. sandal you can buy: https://www.olukai.com/about/

Remember how many were bummed about missing the BOP?  Here's your chance to get in to an inaugural event and they are gonna go all out.  I just checked the vendor expo stuff and the rates are very good and there's gonna be demos galore at the Boneyard.

They did add a 12'6 division for the Open men but not as many age groups as the 14' division. They also just added a combined entry fee today for the open distance and technical race, $175 total for both. Some think this is pretty steep but if you're in the first 250 registrants, you get a pair of Olukai sandals (very nice), a mesh race tank, t-shirt, hat and more. Rumors had Rainbow shelling out upwards of 400K a year to run the BOP. If this entrance fee hike will keep it running and allow them to make it better and better, I'm ok with that.
