Small World In Hood River

A week or so ago someone posted a video of a beautiful woman gracefully surfing on a longboard. Her style blew me away. Great video. I searched for it here on the Zone tonight but can't find it. I was looking for it because I went in to Sixth Street Bistro with Diane because I was craving chicken wings and bumped into Gerry Lopez, his son Alex, and the very same surfer. I said hi to Gerry but then gushed about her surfing video. I'm certain she thought I was some kind of nut, but so it goes.

Wings were good, though I'm really craving the standard ones with the hot buffalo sauce. Closest you can come in Hood river is ones with barbecue sauce at sixth street.

I ate lunch at 6th ST. last week, but didn't meet any famous surfers; food was good, though.  I also made my first visit to Big Winds and took advantage of their 4th of July sale.

That is a great vid. Amazing surfer.

Missing the Hood a bit. Summer weather has been very weird here - characterized mostly by a lack of wind, record high temps and humidity. Yuck. There have been a few choice days though and we've seen a lot of south/west swell action. Highlight of my year so far has been the Molokai race in April and last Friday's paddle from Ka'enae to the harbor.

That happened on one of the days where the wind was actually decent. I was raving about the conditions being good and JR reminded me that Friday was only a decent day but relative to the prevailing conditions, it seemed a lot better.

That kind of dramatic style is 100% designed to be noticed.

I would have been lumped in the "stalker" column as well..... she embodies all that is "longboarding" at it's best..... amazing talent, mixed with just the right amount of attitude.

Without the "show", longboarding is just surfing.... add flair and it's Art..... at 4 million frames a second, it becomes a Masterpiece.

I'm trying to figure out where a paddle fits in

I hate to say it, but I think a paddle would have ruined that video. It was perfect down to the old school swimsuit. Shit,,, now I’m gushing too.
