Who's afraid of the big Great White?
« on: July 07, 2015, 08:42:43 PM »
Have you seen these before?  Do they give you the creeps?  Don't scare me a b, b, bit.  (gulp)   I'll bet the GW in the second vid was plenty ticked off after striking at a rubber seal all day.

Nope.
Paddled/surfed Santa Cruz this weekend hoping to see the junior GW's that have been spotted in the area. No joy.
I figure with lots of fish, seal pups, and prone surfers with legs dangling, I am low on the feeding list. Now doing a downwinder off Point Ano Nuevo (bottom of the triangle) and falling in a lot, might be a bit different.

Convincing the wife that all this is a very low probability, not a chance.

I paddle with juvenile GW's at Trails almost every time I go down there.  That's no problem, it's momma and papa that I'm afraid of.

The sightings as I understand it occurred mostly around the cement ship in Aptos/Rio Del Mar area. I sure had no plans to go down there and look for them.

I saw a couple of rays breach, or plop up to the surface, last year around Sharks, that was scary enough.

I wouldn't be overly concerned unless I was at Surf Beach in October of an even numbered year. Thanks to Shark Week.

I'm much more afraid of the idiots in encounter on the 405 on my way to the beach. They're creepy looking things but they've got more of a right be out there than we humans do I think!
