8'10 Speeed in Slo-mo. Two different waves, two looks
« on: July 04, 2015, 12:19:30 PM »
The more I ride this board, the more I learn. Yowza.... bring on the waves!!!!!!
Slo-mo makes it easier get a good look at the board in action.

1st - July 3rd - waist high, fairly gutless but wicked fun. It shows how easily this board makes tight little turns.

2nd - June 28th - OH+  ..... this clip shows how solid the carve is, on a bigger wave with some speed.
The board railed a very crisp roundhouse carve, like it was on tracks, and was a joy riding down the whitewater..... I could feel the channels holding in the wash!

Nice long ride in the first clip...really milkin' w/a great relaxed style and approach. Second clip shows ur affinity to an aggressive backside attack. Beauty on that cutback. I didn't realize you were 67, thought more like 62. I always look to srfers older than me 4 inspiration to keep healthy and keep srfin'! Knee brace? Been there a bunch. Torn meniscus in both knees at this point. Only minimal pain occasionally though, thankfully.
Keep ur "Speeed" up!
btw- NJ had the goods this weekend also.  8)

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Great videos, all. Cheat, I find those surfing videos going back and forth on the waves very relaxing. I could just watch them all day. between you, DJ, and the Cape Cod Boys, I'm in nirvana here.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Stoney, sorry you missed a nice session... everyone was asking for you!

Whatz^..... I'm just used to our beachies having more power than they do this year.... we have a lot of deep water after this winters storms.

JimK... I have had a lot of really good sessions under 4'....... it impressed me with how nicely it carves a turn in weak waves.
I originally was sold on this board by Johnny Maya's video......
What I saw, was a board that went up on a rail and carved a very tight, smooth turn, even in soft waves..... it looked like pure fun.
That is exactly what I got! All I needed was an overhead day to test it in some size.

The day of the "roundhouse" was easily overhead +.
The Speeed was even better with some juice.
After that session, I knew I had a great board.
I frickin' love this thing!!!!

After 26 sessions on the Speeed, I am totally stoked.
It looks like it just came out of the box....Light, tough and affordable.... what can I say? A winner!

Today I paddled over a mile, to surf two great little sandbars. I stayed out for 4 hours... I guess I'm finely comfortable in 29" wide   :)

I know I use the word "carve" a LOT when talking about this board..... because it is exactly what it does..... there's some kind of "special sauce" in the tail of the Speeed.

Here are some pic that "Weed" took this week... and two from the GoPro... they show how it goes in small or OH waves.

Man, that is COOL, Creek! You're making me want to go out and buy one. Like a few on this forum I've been following and reading what Bert has said on Swaylocks the last few years. The man is absolutely a genius!

makes me feel like quite the piker.

that said--gonna try to tune up tomorrow.

great still shots creek--love the style stud shot way nose-forward, lackadaisical, relaxed like an immortal teenager...i officially appoint you guru....

That third shot (jpeg 3), the one with you casually perched on the nose, is a GREAT shot! I'm glad you're stoked on the new board. ;D

You are riding that board good. Really working good on that small face.

Now the thing that really gets me.  You paddle hard for the wave on your left side, but then you surf regular (left foot forward).  I am goofy (right foot forward) and have my strongest stroke on my left side with my left foot slightly behind my right.  When I go for a wave even though I may be out of position and have to paddle hard on my right side for a wave, I feel all twisted and out of balance. This happens to me on my small and longer boards. I do it and I am getting better at it.  It just feels unnatural and weird.
