Yes! And it was unusually good this morning out at Tybee Island. Got in and out before it got too crazy.

Went out for a gorilla strike on the surf at dawn and managed to catch a few before the hoards hit.  I was at a lesser known spot that is a ways south of Newport Pier and coming back across the Pier area was already nuts at 7AM.  Freaking gridlock!  Lines of people trying to get into that parking lot that had been filled by 6AM.

I love living here, but I hate the 4th in Newport.  Don't even bother trying to drive anywhere; the whole Balboa area is gridlocked.  I just ride my bike and tow my board.

Good call. Caught the bottom of the tide, mostly shore pound with an occasional corner.
Agree, it was pretty drained where I was too.  99% walls, but still fun to get drilled by waist high waves.  You gonna hit Bolsa again sometime soon?

Out and back at Privates/Sharks Santa Cruz, done by 11AM.  Looked like great waves at Pleasure Point and the Hook, both crowded.

Lesser waves at Sharks, but still caught a few, although I seem to have a persistent wave curse lately and the Kelp gods hate me. Seems when I managed to catch a good wave, the kelp brakes tossed me off.  Or, when paddling, kelp locked me in and kept me from getting any entry paddling speed.

Not especially crowded at Privates/Sharks to my great surprise, though fair number of SUP out.  Got tossy and dramatic at the end of the session as the tide started coming in rapidly.

A girl I call "Hokua Girl" got mad at me because I made a wave she was counting on coming back to Privates, and she had to roll off.  Well, if I have to yield all the time, she can do it once in a while.

Awesome waves on the 3rd, for evening glass-off
Good waves predicted for the 5th
The 4the is small and clean, but I opted to take two girls out for their first paddle trip outside of a pond.

We did a great 4 mile cruise enjoying beautiful conditions, interesting wild life and no crowds at all.

Plus I followed the parade home........ then ran into a pirate!!!!!!!

Pretty good 4th so far  :)

Happy Independence Day America!!!!

Gonna paddle the Snake River Canyon in Jackson, Wy. tomorrow with Gavere. Destined to be a real hoot!
Any of your crew in here?

Doesn't catch everyone going through but most everyone.
There some good sequences for sure and it pretty entertaining to flip through for a few. Lots of posing and people will dress up for the shot.....darth vader, all sorts have rode through here.

not letting me load the link or links. Bummer. Does double vision stuff in the post, posts 3x but only one link shows up, etc. but shows fine in preview.

I have to back up to here.

So you were already on the wave and she was mad that your rode it all the way to her?  Ha!  Tough luck sister!

She's cute and talented.  Because of the "cute" part, she's probably used to "pouting" guys off of her waves.  Guess it's better than fisticuffs or cuss-outs.

I would have been happy to give her the wave, but logistics and reflexes didn't allow it.

Fun day....Sue and I had a nice warm up paddle at the boardwalk against the current. Got outside and paddled up the bay to Sandy Neck a little ways then turned and paddled straight across to the canal jetty. Took a break on the beach there for awhile and then got a free ride on the current back to the boardwalk.
We ended it as always. Our friends own Bradfords Liquors in Plymouth. They have a huge block party and everyone walks down to a neighbors whose house is on the water in Plymouth harbor. He has the whole extended neighborhood on his lawn and massive deck each year for the fireworks. The crowd sings the National Anthem and God Bless America just as the fireworks start....awesome time.

A little chop and closed out, but I found some corners. Hot dogs were hot, waters was warm, and the beers were cold. Our family spot every year on the 4th of July.
It's not overhead to me!

My ineffable charm with the ladies on the waves is heading into high gear.  Today the 5th I went out, tried to keep myself from being slammed by a big wave by jumping on prone, got caught and it rode me in.  The female proner on the wave went completely ape shit bonkers and ranted on and on even though I apologized.  A couple of SUS guys asked me what that was all about and I just twirled my finger around my temple to indicate "psycho".

I think she and her "girlfriend" were of the Sapphic persuasion and she was trying to impress her girlfriend that she had balls.  Maybe she does.

I think certain aggressive women have found out that they can get away with things that would get a male punched in the face.  They can go off on a guy and what's he going to do, hit her?  No way.  To make it worse, a woman can win a war of words with a man most of the time.  I had one go off on me at DogPatch one time, I just said I was sorry and paddled away while she was still ranting.  At least she didn't follow me.

A real douche would have gone over and started flirting with her girlfriend.  Lucky I'm just a fake douche.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"
