what mrBig didn't tell you:
he was paddling behind a couple of cuties.... that might have spiked his BPM  ;)

Be thankful, they could have hooked it to your testicles.

I also find that drafting cuties tends to increase my effort. I invoke the Pono drafting rule, which is yada, yada, yada rulebook, roll that thing up and yada, yada, yada. Geezers get to draft whatever is in front of them.

Drafting the ladies wasn't the problem. My ancient middle distance runner closing kick codes activated and I tried to pass all four of them.

I managed to do it - but ZZZIIZZZT really is NOT a form of positive reinforcement. In fact random electric shocks is a form of torture..

It has been exactly six months since I died - Voodoo Child, Slight Return..

I can drive, fly, and still surf a little. Celebrated today with a paddle in Osterville around the Myaterious,Island. Rain, headwinds, tide, welcome back. 5.3 miles, 1 hr 53 minutes average HR 140 max 168.

I give thanks to Higher Authority every day!

Well it's been six months since I died. Continuing to appreciate life in a new and mysterious way!

Sold my JP Slate not because of stability issues, but it just paddled too slowly for me to catch weaker waves.

Ordered another King's. The 9'4" SS Especial. Works awesome in the winter with my reduced stamina.

Bought an HR monitor and learned that my HR while surfing averages 160 and peaks at 180. Found a research study on Big Wave guys (Maverick's actually) who were averaging 180 and peaking at 200. My cardiologist was NOT amused! Good news is my waveforms are normal with no sign of afib or vfib patterns. Cleared for takeoff!

Have had a great fall and winter chasing waves from Maine to Rhode and all over the Cape. Compared to the Ice Nine madness of last winter it's been downright balmy and conducive to flat watering when the wind co-operates.

I had no idea that heart rate went up that much during surfing, I would have guessed a mere 110 or so in spells.
