Recover quickly Mr. Big and strong shout out to those who knew and properly employed CPR. Fantastic to hear.

Thanks for all of the support fellas!

It's been almost 4 weeks since the defib box has been installed. No shocks, no alarms, still feels weird but I am trying to make friends with the damn thing.

Went for a spin on my ESA Boogie Board with fins. Felt spooky - unconscious limbic brain said the last time we were in the water you died! Coughed up a lot of crud - red tide yum yum eatum up!

Tribalthunder came by and went for a paddle with me. I was on my Imagine Rocket 12'6" tippymobile with my shortest paddle. DOCTOR'S ORDERS - can not raise my left arm over my head. After a shaky start it felt tremendous to paddle around on my lake wearing my new Body Glove Marine Kook Koat Life Jacket. Never fell, no GPS data though I suspect 1 mph max.

Greatful to be alive and taking some baby steps in the direction of complete recovery!!

Great update!  Back at 'em.

What is the reason for not raising your left hand?

Admin, When they install the defib box the leads are connected to the heart muscle. Takes  4 to 6 for the scarring to hold them in place. Primitive stuff wot!

Reports are for real...mrbig is back! I stopped by for a paddle on mrbig Lake and we did several laps on a perfect sunshine day, with a light winds and an excited mrbig who was finally able to enjoy doing what he loves. We then celebrated his return with fresh carrot juice and a toast to the full on recovery of the legend known as mrbig!

Awesome to read that your SUP journey continues! Shorter paddles are the thing now I'm told, so you are already ahead of the curve!

Good to hear you're on the comeback trail. Just being in or on the water is great therapy.

Recommend therapy : take it easy, carrot juice blends or IPA's, and paddle frequently. You get a kook free pass on the life jacket from everyone :)

mrbig makes his paddling debut at the Cape Cod Shark Paddle.... the action was called by surfing, SUPing NECN weatherman Tim Kelly

PDLSFR was there to complete the circle..... great to see these two enjoying the day.

Perfect weather, great surf after the event with Tim.....and a fine sunset to wrap it up!

Glad you're okay Mrbig, and hats off to those who helped you, very heroic.

I wish there was a way to sticky your experience somewhere on the forum or in the general consciousness of our sport. I've encountered more than a few older guys at my local break who's cardio level wasn't up to the level of their enthusiasm. It scares me and I feel like it's a matter of time before I witness something similar.

>>....whose cardio level wasn't up to the level of their enthusiasm.<<

Let me correct myself and say that I meant "whose" not "who's"...

Also, let me clarify.... I wasn't implying that Mrbig didn't have a sufficient cardiovascular fitness. Anyone, any age can have a congenital heart condition.

What I meant to say was that the story brings to mind some of the people that I've encountered on the water clearly struggling. I've seen some people out there huffing and puffing, pale as ghosts and it scares the shit of me.
