Five years and I miss him like it was yesterday.

For those of us that love the water and push ourselves physically while we are on it heart atacks can be doubly dangerous. If you have any signs that might remotely be related to your heart get it checked.

These two parts of your post struck deep.   First there's nothing like a brother.  Second, aside from the exertion there's the heat.  Don't know what it's like everywhere else but summer is here.  Without any trade winds it's been up well above 90... a humid 90.  Been SUS on the south shore last three days with my grandson and it's brutal.  The heat beats down like waves.  Periodically it's necessary to dive in and go deep.  But heat can be a kicker out there.  It's 6 and I'm shoving off.  Mid-day sessions are for the birds.  Drank over a half gallon of water yesterday.

Wow, heroes for surf buddies!  Wish you a speedy recovery and return to the water.

It's easy to miss the symptoms while out on the water pushing it.
Gives some pause to me as my favorite session is alone at dawn.

Glad everything is ok bro.  Scary to say the least and it is always in the back of my mind but I guess that's the risk of being over 50.

The hot rod boards you have got are too much for you there MrBig?  ;).  I'm glad you are well and hoping that you will be back in the water soon.  Cheers!

You are so fortunate to have made it. Heros earned their badges for sure.
I hope it does not take long to get back to your passion. Get well but listen to your doc.
Hopefully you will have another 30 years of surfing before age pounds you into submission.

When its my time I hope to be on my last wave.
