The sophomoric idiot in me wants to say "can I have your stuff?"  ;)

The fellow heart attack-while-surfing survivor sits here slack jawed unable to believe how amazing the whole tale is.   I had to read it 3 times just to let it sink in. The placement of watermen-of-action so close, the care they gave you, and the fact that since March, 3 of us Zoners have had heart attacks is just nuts.  What a scary ride.  Really glad you're still with us, and ...way to take one for the team and bring the good waves!  ;D

MrBig  Welcome back...  Wasn't your time.  More surfing to do!  Inspiring tale and quite the adventure.  I guess we all had better be recertified CPR and water safety...

Wishing for a speedy return to your favorite breaks!

Nice save for the responders.  How long were you down for?  You are lucky that your ribs are only bruised and not broken.  Im an emt and i just performed CPR on a boater on the Frying Pan in Colorado last week.  Guy was down for a while, core body temp was low 80's.  Performed CPR for 30 minutes. No pulse no breathing.  Never regained consciousness.  Gave him IO warm fluids.  Pretty sad.
Glad you made it and the responder should be given a huge shout out.

OUTSIDEWAVE the red tide is a nasty algae bloom we deal with here all year (much worse in summer) and they often close the beach after heavy rains due to high bacteria in the water. You can google it and the articles would steer you away from surfing in it, but hey when the waves are rippin we go !!

Wow! Glad you're coming back, Big! Same thing just happened to a buddy only 4 weeks ago. He's only 42. Was pulling away from a red light when he went out. Romped on the gas and ran in to the 3 cars in front of him. In one was a paramedic and in another was a general practice doctor. How lucky is that!  And like you he's on his way back. All the best on a speedy recovery!

Good to hear you're still with us, and the same goes to everyone else having heart attacks lately, yikes.  But remember next week is shark week and we all need to be healthy, and get plenty of exercise, otherwise the sharks will have no fun being with us if we aren't there.
It takes a quiver to do that.
