Barbados?
« on: June 30, 2015, 06:53:15 PM »
So my wife calls me at the office late yesterday.......says hey, wanna go to Barbados end of March or early April?......and she says I hear there is surf!
She found a rental at Zeds with surf out front, sounds fun.
I'm sure I should bring my own paddle this trip!

Any suggestions? What else is good down there?
Caribsurfs post about flights mentions hops to other locations.
I wonder if it would be a good plan to try another venue while in the area?

As always, thank you guys for any tips or advice!

Id recommend Paddle Barbados over Zed.  paddle Barbados is the best SUP rental company and location on the island.  Right on the beach.best gear too
Jason and Sarah are great and have nice location and good gear.  That time of year you may have surf right in front of their shop if not just around the corner is the popular break Brandon's.  Not sure where you are staying, but if you are staying at the Hilton, they are right next door.

Barbados has many, many surf breaks, some for beginners some world class..SUrfing has always been popular there and SUP now taking off as well.  Vibe in the water is  ok.  Can get crowded and these days many beginners from all over the world in the line up at so,e of the easier breaks.  Brandon's, Freights, South Point, Batts Rock all good SUP breaks .
They can take you to many other breaks around the island, or if you want relaxing paddle with your wife, They offer that right in front as well.
Barbados is the major hub in the southern Caribbean and you can catch a Liat airline flight to many other islands.
I have a home Bequia in the Grenadines a 45 min (expensive ) puddle jump from Barbados but well worth it.  No SUP rental there but if I am around I have plenty of boards.  PM me for more info

Hey Eastbound, yes Bequia can have good surf, but isn't as consistent as neighboring St.Vincent which has many breaks and breaks all the time.  My favorite left point break is on St.Vincent.  The strong winter trade winds make Bequia more suitable for kiting and windsurfing, but these same winds create large ocean swells which break on reefs of Bequia, some deep some shallow both perfect for SUP surfing.  I have posted on YouTube videos of surfing in Bequia and St.Vincent

I fly into Barbados to get to Bequia so I have spent a lot of time there for work and play and have surfed and supped there many times.  So many waves from every direction so you are not likely to ever get skunked on Barbados.

Here's a video I made this past March of a pretty good day at a Bequia outer point
break.  I surf windsurf and sup these waters 99% of the time alone which is pretty special.  I hope this link works
