Boardbag for flights
« on: June 30, 2015, 06:22:05 AM »
Hi,
Iīm looking for a decent boardbag for my Naish Hokua X32 8ī3 (to take on flights). In the best case it should be a double boardbag with space for a second board...
I checked millions of websites, but didnīt found SUP surf boardbags...
Any ideas?

Cheers, J.

Call Frank at vitamin blue board bags.  I have several customs, including one that holds my 8'6" sup and my 6'2" shortboard.  Hawaiian Air lets me take two boards in one bag for the same price.

+1 for Vitamin Blue. I've ordered several bags from Frank and besides being a great guy, he'll make you a bag for whatever scenario you want and it will fit right.

About how much will a bag cost from Vitamin Blue that can handle the rigors of airline travel?

Or use a regular bag and use extra insurance materials for cheap, as per post below.

My double bag was $275, for a coffin bag 9' 6", with 1/2" foam on sides and top/bottom.  I also cut out two pieces of cardboard the shape of my board and slip those in top and bottom . Extra Protection!!  I always wrap the sup board rails with pipe insulation, but don't bother with my shortboard. 4 trips to Maui and no problems.
I pack the fins in a bag along with tools and extra fins, and the two boards and bag total 40lbs, which is under the 50 lb limit of Hawaiian Air.
