Guilty as charged.  I have five fins in my boxes.  One IS a nubster, though.  They forgot the coiled leash, totally kook, and the headbanger helmet.

Five fins would be a Quin, but the nub doesn't count so you're still cool.

Why kook for a coiled leash? I use one for racing or do you mean coiled for surfing?

I wore trunks over wetsuit one time. Definitely not cool. I do wear trunks and shirt over shorty springsuit though.

Coiled leash in surf means you are totally new at it so you must be a kook.

I gotta admit I really don't get the purpose of the trunks over wetsuit.

How about this look?

Forget about the paddle.  Hood cap and goggles.  Just trying to keep up with SUPCheat.

BUT then I add the Camelbak, rib-protector, flotation under my suit, 'The best board carrier for $1.50', and a GoPro for good measure.  No wonder I surf alone.

PS:  I am thinking about adding my old football or hockey jersey for the final touch of STYLE.

I wear boardshorts over my tights. I've stuck a gopro on the back of my board. I know what a 68 year old ass looks like. Nothing I need to share.

This seems like non-surfers talking about being a kook, and it's more like harpies on The View cackling about style. The biggest kook move is showing up in the middle of a serious lineup, getting in the way and not knowing WTF you're doing.

Using your big-ass board and the power of your paddle to catch waves way outside then calling everyone off "your wave" is a close second. I'd love to clothesline those folks. Of course I do it with my race board, but only in baby waves, to baby wave surfers, who still whine, even though they're surfing baby waves. Which leads me to number three:

Channeling Miki Dora and calling everyone out of your way in knee high fluffers. the Cove in Maui is famous for that. If it's waist high or less, get real, it's sharable. I'd say shoulder high but thats me.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

You just reminded me of Lindamar, California:

This is the place where everyone learns to surf, or tries to learn to surf, in the Bay Area.  People show up with their BMW's and Porsche's with surfboards on the roof.  Things can get pretty agro in the shallow end of the kiddy pool.

Jeff Clark was SUP'ing there last week and some woman cut in front of him and he bailed all his gear only managing to skewer her board but not hurting her or anyone else.  A friend of her's layed into Jeff calling him a "Kook, riding those things with paddles . . . and by the way your paddle even hit me" the man said.

Jeff was quick to respond with "Oh you saw my paddle why didn't you grab it for me?"

My anticipated response to aggression at Lindamar would be to say "Listen pal we're surfing at Lindamar WE ALL SUCK HERE!"

The caption on the second wave should be "Who's wave is this?"

Wow, Beasho, looks just like Blackies by my house.  A lot prettier surroundings, but the lineup looks the same.

So this morning was beautiful on the west side. Chest to shoulder high with a once in a while head high group of set waves. Smaller crowd that mostly knew what they were doing but a few total newbies flailing around. They never got in the way because the sets seemed to clean them out every time. Kind of funny to watch, they just didn't get it that they needed to move outside quick - they'd just paddle around aimlessly until they got cleaned out, then come back out and do the same thing. Fairly kookie but there's more....

Waiting for a wave, I hear a loud-mouthed 'surf instructor' just north of where most of us were surfing 'educating' his beginning surfers on their long-board Wavestorm style soft tops: "Watch out for the stand ups, they have no etiquette and etiquette is important."

Start those beginners off right, yeah, everybody on a standup is a kook with no etiquette. This coming from one of the guys that routinely will take a class of tourist first timers out, sit them on the inside, and push them into waves, regardless of whether someone is riding it in from the outside. And the thing was, there were probably 25 people in the water on standups and prone, everybody getting along and no one going near him and his group. And, 80% of the people in the water were good surfers, both the prones and the standups.

I'm glad I didn't confront him because I am sure it would have ruined my day but I'd say this guy was definitely vying for a King Kook award.

A ketchup stained bowling shirt would be a nice touch.

I have to admit, the ski goggles are very outré super kook.

I am still partial to some of the guys I have seen wearing alien monster bicycle helmets.
